Highway 8 to get new blacktop
10.4-kilometre stretch to be done this summer
Drivers on Route 8 in Annapolis County may soon be travelling on better blacktop.
The provincial government recently announced that 10.4 kilometres of Highway 8 will be repaved south from the intersection of Highway 101.
The $2,587,000 project is scheduled to be finished this summer.
"Our department staff are working hard to keep Nova Scotia's highways in top shape," said Murray Scott, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "Already this year, we've awarded contracts for more than 184 kilometres of road-paving throughout Nova Scotia."
The project is part of the provincial government's commitment to better roads and infrastructure, a media release said.
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal's highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provides services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro, and Sydney.
