Student Art Fair

April 17 Valley Student Art Fair opens 7 p.m., Thursday, April 17 at the Macdonald Museum, Middleton. This great show features artwork from Valley school children from Windsor to Digby. Exhibit continues until May 5. No admission throughout the exhibit period. Sponsored by the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board. Call the Museum for more details at 825-6116.

Men’s Fitness Class

April 24 Eight-week men’s fitness class with instructor James Hayward begins Thursday, April 24 at the Bridgetown Lions Hall. Sessions run until June 12 from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Cost is $32. Register at Bridgetown Town Hall or by phone at 665-4637. Minimum 10 participants required.

Celebration of Hope

April 24 The Annapolis Royal and District Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society will host Celebration of Hope, April 24 at the Baptist Church First United, Annapolis Royal at 7:30 p.m. Guest speaker is Jim How, Annapolis Royal.

Community Lunches

April 25 The Women’s Place is hosting community lunches the last Friday of each month. Guest speakers will talk about health related topics. The speakers on April 25 will be representatives from Valley Waste to tell us how we need to package our garbage. All are welcome to attend. Free transportation can be arranged. Call 665-5166.

Soccer, Baseball Registration

April 26 Registration for Middleton Minor Soccer and Baseball will take place on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Town Hall. Phone 825-6611 for further details.

Cemetery Cleanup

April 26 The volunteer cleanup for the Woodlawn Cemetery will be at 9 a.m.. Please bring a rake. Rain date is May 3.

Old Fashioned Supper

April 26 Come out for supper at the Lawrencetown Fire Hall from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in support of the Lawrencetown Swimming Pool. Enjoy baked beans, ham, scalloped potatoes, brown bread and much more. Advanced tickets only by calling 584-2285.

Variety Show

April 26 Musical Variety Show, with lots of wonderful local talent, at the Port George Rec. Centre at 7:30. Admission is $5 (children 12 and under are free). Also door prizes, bake table, canteen and 50/50 draw. Proceeds for Tyler Watkins & Nick Smith who are heading to the National Dart Championships in Winnipeg.

Celebrating 50Plus

April 26 Celebrating 50Plus: Event for Seniors will be held Saturday, April 26 beginning at 9:30 a.m., 178 Haida Street, Champlain Hall, Cornwallis Park. $2 admission (includes lunch, coffee, tea, snacks), door prizes, demonstrations, over 40 displays, 50/50 draw. Entertainment to include Rachel McLean of the McLean sisters, Cody Peck, Mary’s Islanders Dance Troupe, The Annapolis Skippers and so much more! Come join in the fun and excitement! Rummage Sale

April 26 The Bi-yearly IODE Rummage Sale will take place, Saturday April 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Nova Scotia Community College, Annapolis Campus, Middleton. This is a fundraiser for the Chapter and monies go to charitable work throughout the Annapolis Valley.

Cemetery spring cleanup

April 26 North Kingston Public Cemetery at 9 a.m., weather permitting. Come and bring a rake and gloves. Rain date is May 3.

Annual Yard Sale

April 26 Rosemary Chapter IODE’s sale will be held at the N.S.C.C., Middleton from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Baby Palooza

Candles & Classics (20th annual)

Parish Mission

April 27 Father Eugene O’Reilly, CSsR, will present a parish mission starting Sunday, April 27 at 7 p.m. for four evenings with Reconciliation on Tuesday evening and Mass on Wedesday evening followed by get-to-gather in the Annex. April 28 Bridgetown Regional Elementary School Volunteer Appreciation Assembly and Reception will be held April 28 at 9 a.m. BRES volunteers are invited to the assembly in appreciation for all that you do for us. Refreshments will be served in the library after the assembly.

Legion Bingo

April 30 Bingo will be held at the Annapolis Legion Wednesday, April 30. Doors open 6:45 p.m. Bingo starts 7:30 p.m. $10 book (15 games). Merchandise and meat prizes.

CAPS meeting

April 30 The Monthly Meeting of Companion Animal Protection Society will start at 7:00 p.m. in the Lawrencetown Municipal Building. All members and friends are welcome. For info, call 825 2343.

Stability Ball Classes

May 1 Six-week Stability Ball Classes run from May 1 to June 12 at Lawrencetown Education Centre. Instructor is Cathy Bruce. Time is 7 to 8:15 p.m. Start at beginner and work up to the intermediate level. We do have a few extra balls available, let us know when you register if you need one. Spaces are limited. Self-esteem workshops

May 2 “A Step Up” is a five week course that includes workshops on self-esteem, assertiveness, identifying your values, setting goals and implementing change. These free workshops (May 2, 9, 16, 23 and June 6) are being held by The Women’s Place, Bridgetown. Register by calling 665-5166.

Spring Shopping Expo

Variety show

Tea & sale

May 3 Spring Tea & Sale at the Parish Hall in Deep Brook from 2 to 3:30 p.m., featuring bake, book, craft and white elephant tables. Proceeds for the Anglican Church Women in the Parish of Clements.

Annual dinner

May 3 the Seventh Annual Battle of the Atlantic Commemorative dinner will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Clementsport. Advance tickets only ($20) by phoning Doug, 638-8700 or Karl at 638-3351.

Song service

May 4 Graham Moorehead and Friends will be performing at the Torbrook Baptist Church starting at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will follow the service. All welcome.

Senior’s party

May 5 The Bridgetown Seniors Party will be held at the Bridgetown Baptist Church from 2-4pm. All seniors from the Bridgetown and area are welcome.

Wilmot and Area Neighbourhood Watch

May 5 at 7 p.m. in the Wilmot Christian Fellowship Centre. Special guest speaker will be Christine Kennedy, the Seniors Safety Program Coordinator for the Annapolis County RCMP. All are encouraged to attend.

Mother's Day Supper

May 11 Starting at 4 p.m. Scalloped potato, baked beans and ham, with apple pie for dessert. The first 50 ladies will receive a rose, and there will be door prizes. Adults $ 10, ages four to 12 - $ 5, three and under eat for free. This will be held at the Deep Brook Parish Hall, and is sponsored by the Bear River East Baptist Church. Bridgetown Market

May 13 The Bridgetown Market will open this spring on May 13 at 160 South St., from 3:30 to 7 p.m. The market is open to all vendors, but will concentrate on local farm products, crafts, baked and other food products. For more information, call Lewis at 665-2029 or 665-4865 before 6 p.m.
