Kings County SPCA holding book sale fundraiser
The Kings County SPCA is holding its spring book sale fundraiser at the County Fair Mall in New Minas on Friday, April 18, Saturday, April 19 and Sunday afternoon, April 20. Pam Nickerson of Port Williams (left) was among the customers purchasing books on Friday afternoon. Coordinator Daphne Cragg (right) said they hold two such fundraisers a year, one in the spring and one in the fall, and people donate books to the cause. Cragg said the SPCA has to ensure ongoing funding before opening their shelter in Waterville but every bit helps. If only half of the 50,000 people in Kings County purchased an annual membership to the SPCA for $10, a quarter-million dollars would be raised.
