Take a moment to think about all the things volunteers make possible in Queens County, and thank a volunteer for their hard work.

A Clean Queens Starts with You!

Earth Day is April 22nd and it is a great opportunity to appreciate the many beautiful natural spaces found throughout the Region of Queens. Litter and illegal dumping can disparage the beauty and destroy the peace many enjoy.

You can help keep Queens the beautiful community we know and love ... take part in the Adopt-A-Highway Program!! Volunteer organizations and other groups can commit to keeping a 5 kilometer section of highway (or a 100 series highway interchange) clean. You select the section, clean the area twice a year for three years, and have the satisfaction of knowing that you have done your part in keeping Queens clean and beautiful!

If your group, business or community would like to take part in the Adopt-A-Highway, please contact Heather Cook, Community Development Coordinator, for further information (phone: 354-5741, email: hcook@regionofqueens.com). It is a great way to be involved in your community and have a real and lasting effect on our environment!

Queens Place

Learn about all the exciting new developments in the Queens Place project as they happen by subscribing to the "Queens Place" e-bulletin. Simply e-mail the Region of Queens Recreation Dept. (info@regionofqueens.com) to have your e-mail added to the list. The e-bulletin contains news briefs, updates and advances to the project so you will have the facts straight from the Recreation Facility Project Committee.
