Registration for Port Williams and East Kings Soccer will take place Fri., April 25 from 7-9 p.m. and Sat., April 26 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the PWES library. PW Soccer is for children ages 4-10 and East Kings Soccer is for youth born from 1990-97.

If you have questions about PW Soccer, call Danny or Lisa Lazaric at 542-1768 or e-mail dlazaric@eastlink.ca. Remember to bring an extra cheque for the soccer jersey.

The final session of the Learning Circle, free courses of community interest, will be held Mon., April 28 at the Port Williams United Baptist Church.

In the fourth of the End of Life Issues series, Rev. Dr. Dennis Veinotte, Valley Pastoral Counselling, will present “Understanding and Managing Grief: What's happening to me?”

In the fourth of the In the Shadow of Blomidon: How has our regional been shaped by Nature and Newcomers? series, Dr. Barry Moody, Acadia University will present “The Story of the Planters and the Loyalists”.

The Princess Candlelight and Dessert Party will be held Fri., April 25 at 7 p.m. in the Community Centre. All proceeds go to Apple Blossom expenses for the princess and the float.

Come and meet our candidate for Princess Port Williams, Katelyn Pulsifer. She is the daughter of Stephen and Angel Pulsifer and a third-year Business Administration student at Acadia University.

Then you should definitely plan to attend the Our Kids, Our Future Auction Fundraiser to benefit young athletes of Launchers Athletics.

The fundraiser is on Sat., April 26 at the Community Centre at 7 p.m. The evening will consist of a verbal and silent auction of wonderful items including sports memorabilia, celebrity autographs, clothing and books and merchandise from local individuals and businesses.

The club also recognizes the importance of playing a leadership role in the community and will be contributing a portion of the proceeds of this event to The Valley Child and Development Association.

It’s time to honour a village volunteer with the Port Williams Volunteer Award. This award was initiated by the Village Service Commission in memory of Harold B. Legge, who served the Village as a Commissioner faithfully for more than 16 years.

The deadline for nominations, which may be made for an individual, couple or group, is April 30. The award recipients will be announced at the annual meeting of the Village Commission in May.

The Port Williams Men's Fellowship will have its final meeting of the spring Thurs., May 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the vestry. We will have a potluck supper. Wives and significant others are invited to join us.

Ken Bezanson will lead us in a program about collections and you are all invited to bring whatever you may collect to share that evening. Ken would like to have an idea of what will be brought so he can prepare the program.

If you have a collection you can share, please tell Ken or inform Charlie Forney (542-4849) or Jerry Atwater (542-5303) and we will pass it on.

The Youth Group will be holding its yearly indoor yard sale Sat.., May 3. If you have donations to contribute or have any other questions in regard to this fundraiser, call Ted Champion (542-3791) or Marlene Porter (542- 2468).

DanceTime at Port Williams will hold its end-of-season dance party Friday, May 9 from 8 p.m. to 12.30 a.m. in the Auditorium at the Community Centre. The Program will include Social and Ballroom dancing, a buffet supper and door prizes, and there will be a cash bar run by the Fire Hall.

Profits will go to support community projects. Tickets are $25 per couple and admission is by ticket only. For tickets and information, phone Kelly at 678-0375.

The Port Williams Health Auxiliary will hold its Spring Plant Sale and Coffee Party Saturday, May 10 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in Lockwood Hall.

There will be perennials, annuals, shrubs, vines and houseplants available for sale. There’s no cost of admission to the plant tables, but anyone wishing to attend the coffee party can make a freewill donation. A bake table will also be available. Proceeds from this event will go the auxiliary's ongoing projects, particularly the current project, purchase of a pain pump.

Perennials, annuals, houseplants, herbs, shrubs, trees, seeds are all needed to make this event a success. Plants should be potted and labeled.

If you can donate plant material, we would be most grateful. Items can be left at Lockwood Hall during Friday, May 9 either during the day or in the early evening.

EMS will hold an adult dance Sat., May 10 at the Community Centre from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Money raised from this event will be used to help offset the cost of the PEI trip in June.

Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at the school office. Come, bring some friends and enjoy an evening out.

While you’re spring cleaning, if you come across cotton or cotton/polyester fabric and thread that you no longer need, consider donating it to the school. Inquiries about other items can be directed to Mrs. MacLean at 681-4910.

The Port Williams and District Lions Club wishes to advise community residents that the 9th annual Village-Wide Yard Sale will be held Sat., June 14. A canteen will be available adjacent to Stage 2 during the yard sale.

Also taking place on that day will be a chicken BBQ by the Fire Department, the Children’s Parade and a Community Supper. A mock jail will start the weekend off Fri., June 13. Further information will be sent to Village residents next month.
