Some occupations hold more interest than others judging by the crowds of students around certain tables at the École secondaire de Par-En-Bas career expo yesterday.
A massage therapist, and representatives for NSCC Burridge carpentry, Université Sainte Anne, the Armed Forces, RCMP and the Department of Fisheries were some of the more popular stops amongst close to 24 career choices.
Grade 11 student Brandon D’Entremont says he thinks he might become an RCMP officer because it seems like an interesting job. He’s already working as a volunteer firefighter so isn’t concerned about the training though he does hope he’s posted in the area.
“Anywhere in Atlantic Canada,” he said. “I don’t really want to go that far away.”
Michel Boudreau also doesn’t want to go far from home and for good reason.
“I want to be a teacher for sure so I might as well head off to a French school. I like the idea of Sainté Anne’s. I won’t get homesick and my mom can still do my laundry.”
