Moston Keddy Strong, age 95, of Scotch Village, Hants County, passed away April 5, 2008, in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born July 3, 1912, in Hantsport, Nova Scotia, he was the son of Fredrick "Fred" Osbert Strong and Harriett Alma (Borden) Strong. Moston maintained and operated mixed farming most of his life. He was a member of the Newport United Baptist Church, Scotch Village, and liked to attend church suppers and other church functions. He enjoyed visiting family and friends, selling his apples door to door, and telling stories. He also loved to go hunting and fishing. Moston is survived by sons, Laurie, Scotch Village; Mostyn (Mabel), Scotch Village; Burten (Sylvia), Greenwood; Leigh (Evelyn), Scotch Village; Chris (Jeannine), Scotch Village; Wray (Judy Bonnell), Martins River; daughters, Twila Fairn, Halifax; Marlene (Tony) MacDougall, Orleans, Ontario; sister, Ella May Alley, Bedford; 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Moston was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Ida May (Leopold) Strong (2002); daughter, Martha Harriett in infancy; grandson, Peter Strong; great-granddaughters, Megan and Kayla Ehler, in infancy; sisters, Harriett Woodman, Hilda Munro, and a sister, Beulah, in infancy; brothers, Bowman, Paul, and Clifton Strong; son-in-law, Don Fairn. Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, in the Newport United Baptist Church, Scotch Village. The Rev. Garnet Parker officiated, assisted by the Pastor Geoff deJong. A private family interment was in the Scotch Village Century Cemetery, Scotch Village, followed by a reception in the Newport United Baptist Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Moston, were requested to be made to the Hants Community Hospital Foundation; Newport United Baptist Church; or to a charity of one's choice. Jeszenszky, Tibor Anthony - died in Bangor, Maine December 8, 2007 while on his way home to Yarmouth after visiting friends in Montreal and family in Toronto. He was 89. Born in Budapest to a family established in Hungary since the 1500s, Tibor graduated with a law degree and planned to follow his father's footsteps as a district magistrate but World War II intervened. In 1951 he and his first wife and two young children emigrated to Canada, arriving in Halifax at Pier 21 to start a new life. Tibor's lifelong love of motor mechanics enabled him to find employment in Quebec's heavy industries while he studied at night through correspondence school to become a draughtsman. By the time he retired with his second wife Maude in Yarmouth, he was working at the level of an engineer. In Yarmouth, Tibor was an active member of Beacon United Church and contributor to the new South Ohio Community Hall. He was a devoted husband and dear friend to many. He was a man of dignity who loved a good joke. Tibor's surviving family members are his daughter Ilona Staples and husband Bill Staples; his son Nick and wife Susan (née Anderson) Jeszenszky; grandson Paul Jeszenszky and fiancee Marcey Graham; grandaugher Sarah Moses and her husband Zachurie Moses and great, grandson Brandon Moses. Tibor's ashes will be interred in Hillside Cemetery, South Ohio on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 10 am, followed by a memorial reception in the South Ohio Community Hall hosted by Anne and Tom Moses. Joseph Albert Leonard Alldread – 86, born in Coalville, Leicestershire, England on May 11, 1921 and died in Halifax on February 22, 2008. Mr. Alldread was predeceased by his mother and father, Rose Miriam (Bostock) and Joseph William Alldread; brother, Roy Alldread and Roy’s wife, Mary. His loving wife, Freda Alldread (Reynolds) died in July, 2006. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Dr. Austin Reade, of Halifax, and in England by his sister-in-law, Mrs. Olive Poole, cousin, Mrs. Peggy Bevin, nieces and a nephew. Second Lieutenant Alldread (RNVR) served with the Fleet Air Arm as a bomber pilot with 849 Squadron on HMS Victorious and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his successful leadership of raids on enemy-held oil refineries in Sumatra in April of 1945. Following war service, Mr. Alldread completed teacher training and began his career at Bridge Road Junior School in his home town. He moved to Croft, Leicestershire in 1953, as Headmaster of the Church of England School there and ended his educational career as Headmaster of South Greenhoe Middle School in Swaffham, Norfolk, England. On retirement from teaching, he and his wife emigrated to Canada to be close to their only child. Together they enjoyed 25 years living in and being part of the community of Kentville. Throughout his life, Mr. Alldread had close association with the Anglican Church, and served as Church Warden of St. Peter and St. Paul, Swaffham and St. James, Kentville. Through St. James, he and his wife also gave several years of service to the Fundy Inter-Church Food Bank. At the time of his death, he was a member of St. Augustine’s Church, Jollimore. Both Leonard and his wife were involved with the Guide and Scout movement during many years, and he held the Scout Medal of Merit and Thanks Badge. Amateur dramatics was another interest and Leonard was one of the founders of The Swaffham Players. Friends, former neighbours and fellow parishioners are invited to the memorial service – A Celebration of the Lives of Leonard and Freda Alldread - at St. James Anglican Church in Kentville, on Saturday April 19th, 2008 at 1:00 p.m., with reception in the Lower Hall after the service.

SEARS (Dennis), Elsie Lee - 77, Wellington, Yarmouth Co., passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on April 4, 2008. Born in Yarmouth on April 21, 1930, she was a daughter of Lyndall and Vera (Doane) Winters. She is survived by daughter, Elizabeth (Arthur) Johnson, Deerfield; son, Kenneth A. (Sandy) Dennis, Yarmouth; stepdaughter, Linda (Ron) Doucet, Chester; grandchildren, Sharon (Eric) Legere, Halifax; Angela Johnson, Toronto; Jennifer (Mark) Sumarah, Ottawa; Sara Dennis (Aaron Allen), Ponoka; Scott (Monica) Dennis, Winnipeg; four stepgrandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Kenneth M. Dennis; second husband, Walter E. Sears; brother, Victor Winters; sister, Hilda Clive. At the request of the deceased cremation took place under the direction of Sweeney's Funeral Home with private graveside service at a later date. FRASER, Stephen Douglas, passed away suddenly April 2, 2008 at the age of 46. Dear husband of Lesley (nee Richards) Fraser, loving father of Brandon Fraser, Jordan, Jeremy, and Lindsay Richards. Stephen is survived by his father Arthur ”Mick” Fraser, siblings Donald Fraser, Cathy Sweet, Brenda Leigh Bennett, and David Fraser, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Sandra Diane (Joos) “Sandy” Baxter - 34 - Wolfville died April 5, 2008 in Vaughan, Hants County as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Born in Wolfville on February 18, 1974 she was a daughter of David and Marlys (Jerdee) Joos, Coronado, CA. Besides her parents, Sandy is survived by her husband Peter; daughters Nova and Quinn; brother, David Matthew, his wife, Tara, and their daughter, Sydney, Brunswick, Georgia; sister, Nancy, Avalon, Catalina Island off the California coast, and half sister, Cathryn (Joos) Johnson, and husband, John, and children, Aaron, Ryan, Lauren and Nathan, Fort McMurray, Alberta. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Celebration of Life for Sandy was Thursday April 17, 2008 at 3:00 p.m from the Kingsway Assembly, 242 Belcher St. Kentville, Pastor Terry Penny officiated, assisted by Rev. Ross Baxter and Rev. Dr. Robert Knowles. Everyone was invited to a reception in the church hall following the service. A private interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandy’s memory may be made to a fund that has been established for her daughters Nova and Quinn.
