A Celebration of the Mountain and the Valley Dinner will take place Saturday, July 19, at 7 p.m. at the End of the Line Pub Reception Room in Bridgetown.
The evening will feature locally grown food, along with readings from The Mountain and the Valley by Ernest Buckler. The audience will be encouraged to discuss the themes of the book and whether some of them still apply today in rural Nova Scotia.
This dinner is a fundraiser for the new library in Bridgetown. Tickets are $50 each tax included, of which $25 will go directly to the New Library Fund.

THREE-DAY FESTIVAL
This dinner is part of a three day festival marking the centenary of the birth of Ernest Buckler. Other events planned include:
Friday, July 18 at 7 p.m. – Mini film festival at King’s Theatre in Annapolis Royal

Saturday, July 19 from 2 to 5 p.m. – Ern’s 100th Birthday Party at 3641 Highway 201, Centrelea, Nova Scotia.
Sunday, July 20 at 2 p.m. – Service at All Saints’ Anglican Church at Gibson’s Lake near West Dalhousie, Nova Scotia. Ern is buried in the cemetery there.
The Friends of Ernest Buckler Society is planning a scholarship in Ern’s name for a graduating student at Bridgetown Regional High School who is a gifted writer.
