A Spring Fling at Senior’s Extravaganza
Planning is well underway for this year’s Senior’s Extravaganza, scheduled for April 14 from 1-4 p.m. at the Liverpool Fire Hall. The annual event is hosted by the Region of Queens Municipality, RCMP Queens Detachment, the Queens Community Health Board and VON Queens County Branch.
This year’s theme is “Spring Fling.”

Over 40 exhibitors have been invited to share information regarding available programs and services for seniors. Exhibitors include Department of Health – Continuing Care, the Tent Dwellers, Lifeline, the Queens County Adult Day Program, the Senior’s Activity Group and many more. This year, the organizing committee extends a special invitation to family members, encouraging them to join their loved ones.

“The information presented during the fair is important to seniors, but it is also critical that family members who are involved in the decision making process are also aware of the programs and services available in the community,” says organizing committee member, Grant Webber. “The Department of Health Continuing Care booth alone provides a wealth of information regarding home care, long-term care, respite and home oxygen programs.”

For seniors who need transportation to the Extravaganza, the VON Senior’s Assisted Transportation program will be available to shuttle seniors to and from their homes in the South Queens area. To arrange for a drive please contact VON at 354-3297 prior to April 14.

As always, a social area will be available for seniors to relax, enjoy the music, and catch up with good friends, or play a game of cards. A selection of snacks and refreshments baked fresh by Rhonda Norman is sure to satisfy anyone with a sweet tooth. Admission is free for all. For more information contact the VON office at 354-3297.
