Property damage, vehicle hit and runs and on-line fraud
Yarmouth Town RCMP report
During the period of March 18-30, the town RCMP detachment responded to 111 calls for service, although it is noteworthy that 31 of these calls came over the March 28-30 weekend. The calls for service included: six theft under $5,000, six causing a disturbance, six traffic collisions, 12 mischief/damage to property, 12 other Criminal Code, 12 false alarms, two drunk in a public place, two 911 hang-ups, two off-highway act, four Mental Health Act investigations and eight assaults.

The following is a summary of some of the calls the detachment responded to.

•March 18, 11:13 a.m., gas and dash at the Irving on Starrs Road.

•March 18, 2:58 p.m., two-vehicle motor vehicle collision at Main and Prospect, one female was injured, EHS transported her to hospital, she was released shortly thereafter.

•March 19, 7:38 p.m., complaint from Yarmouth south of a three-wheeler driving up and down the street, patrol made, ATV gone on arrival.

•March 21, 12:53 a.m., officers responded to a request for assistance from EHS on Cliff Street in relation to an unconscious female. Officers attended, determined it was not a criminal matter.

•March 21, 4:23 a.m., while on patrol an officer observed a subject at Cliff and Main streets who had apparently fallen down. Person arrested for being drunk in a public place, lodged in cell.

•March 21, 3:06 p.m., officers responded to a report of a traffic hazard on Water Street. Two youths, approximately six years old, were weaving in and out of traffic on a scooter and a tricycle.

•March 21, 7:17 p.m., received a call of damage to property on Pleasant Street, officers attended, located three young people who were arrested, investigation continuing.

•March 22, 3:34 p.m., the office received a call from a Yarmouth resident who had bought a dog online. The seller had not delivered the dog once the money had been paid. A message from the detachment is buyer beware when purchasing anything on line.

•March 24, 12:45 p.m., report of property damage in centre of town, screens had been cut out of windows.

•March 24, 1:07 p.m., received a call of a vehicle hit and run that had occurred on March 20 in the Wal-Mart parking lot. The vehicle hit was a grey 2003 Toyota Matrix, still under investigation.

•March 24, 4:53 p.m., call from Elm Street concerning the theft overnight of a 12-foot aluminum boat and trailer, officers responded, the investigation resulted in the arrest of two young people. Charges to be laid.

•March 25, 11:15 a.m., complaint of property damage to a silver and grey KIA. The window had been smashed overnight along Murphy Avenue.

•March 27, 11:10 a.m., received a 911 call of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision at Cottage Street and Starrs Road, no major injuries.

•March 28, 2:57 p.m., received a call from Clements Street of an overnight theft of parts off of a satellite dish.

•March 28, 6:17 p.m., report of a grey Chevy S-10 truck being the subject of a hit and run within the last couple of hours while parked at Wal-Mart.

•March 29, 5:58 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call of an assault that had taken place in the centre of town. Officers attended, assault involved a domestic dispute that had occurred involving guests of the Rodd Grand Hotel, investigation is continuing.

•March 30, 2:08 p.m., theft from a residence on Main Street. Items stolen from the outside of the residence included ladies golf clubs, a grey cart, a ladies blue CCM bike, a fishing rod and reel and a red tool box.
