Grass fire damages two homes
Woman calls for help after seeing flames lick at side of house
A grass and brush fire this afternoon in Jordantown Crossroads destroyed a shed and damaged two homes before it was extinguished by Digby firefighters.
Three fire trucks answered the 2 p.m. alarm and were able to keep flames from causing more than siding damage to the houses, but a shed between the two burned to the ground.
“We had a grass fire two weeks ago but this was the first of any consequence,” deputy chief Ben Cleveland said afterwards.
He added that the woman who called in the alarm got up to tend to a child and saw flames licking at the side of the house.
The Department of Natural Resources was investigating cause of the fire.
