March 23 to March 29, 2008 SHEDIAC, Celia Annie Mary - 96, died March 24, 2008, in Nakile Home For Special Care, Argyle. Mrs. Shediac was born on May 9, 1911, to Joseph George and Maryanna (Jaffer) Shadroui in Barre, Vermont, U.S.A. She was educated at Goddard College in Vermont and furthered her studies in Boston, Massachusetts. She married Thomas Victor Shediac in January 1945 and moved to Yarmouth where she became a businesswoman. At the age of 52, she was widowed with two teenaged children, who she raised as a single mother. Mrs. Shediac was an active member of the community, where she was a member of the Scotia Chorus, St. Ambrose Cathedral choir, president of the Catholic Women's League and treasurer of the auxiliary of the Victorian Order of Nurses. However, her devotion was to her family. Mrs. Shediac is survived by son, Thomas, Yarmouth; daughter, Catherine, Boston, Mass.; granddaughter, Catherine Eileen, Toronto, Ontario; brothers, Paul and Richard Shadroui, Barre, Vt.; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Victor Shediac; sisters, Hannet Acker, Freda Hopson; brothers, George, John, Alfred, and Peter. Friends may visit the with the family today from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. Funeral service took place Thursday, March 27, at 2 p.m. in St. Ambrose Cathedral, Father John MacPherson officiated. A reception followed in the Youth Centre, Queen Street, Yarmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the Nakile Home For Special Care or Victorian Order of Nurses. March 23 to March 29, 2008 FORD, Olive Leona - 97, Port Maitland, Yarmouth Co., passed away March 23, 2008, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born on August 10, 1910, in Darlings Lake, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Ellen (Huskins) Atkinson. Olive was a member of Beacon United Church. She was a past Chaplain and Past Noble Grand for the Bonnie Briar Rebekah Lodge in Port Maitland. She loved needlework and was very active with it until her passing. Olive was also a past treasurer of Port Maitland United Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her son, Denton (Sandra), Port Maitland; grandchildren, Wendy Ford, Port Maitland; Steven (Darlene) Ford, Wellington; Clayton Ford, Calgary, Alta.; great-grandchildren, Jessie, Josh, Caitlin, Tyler, and Logan. She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford; sister, Muriel; brothers, Ernest, Russell, George, and Richard in infancy. There was no visitation by request of the family. Funeral services took place Wednesday, March 26, at 2 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home Chape, Rev. Don Moses officiated. Burial took place in Darlings Lake Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Canadian Cancer Society.
