March 16 to March 22, 2008, Continued d’ENTREMONT, Joyce Mary – 44, Heuston Street, Yarmouth, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born December 5, 1963 in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Victor and Nellie (Robicheau) Smith. Joyce was a homemaker who had a great love for her family. Surviving are her companion of nine years, Kenny Fitzgerald; sons, John (Ashley) Smith, Moncton, NB; Adam (Jenna) Pothier, Argyle; Jessie Pothier, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Samantha, Haley, Jonathan, Jacob and Ava; a sister, Marina Smith, Halifax. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul Pothier; a daughter, Samantha Pothier; a sister, Betty-Ann Smith; a brother, Victor, in infancy. Visitation took place from 7-9 Thursday, and again from 2-4 and 7-9 Friday, with prayers at 8:15 PM Friday, followed by the funeral at 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 22, all in H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, Rev. Mr. Stephen Bourque officiated. Spring interment will take place in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. March 16 to March 22, 2008, Continued John Freeman Foster - 85, Berwick, Kings Co. passed away Wednesday March 19, 2008, at home. Born in Waterville, Kings Co., he was a son of the late John and Nora (Lightfoot) Foster. John spent most of his working life in Halifax, with 40 years of service at city car dealerships with the longest time spent at Scotia Chevrolet Olds, retiring back to the Annapolis Valley. He was a member of Valley Lodge # 90, A.F. & A.M., Berwick and was a former member of Acadia Lodge # 14, A.F. & A.M., Halifax, with 60 years membership in the Masonic order. John was an avid fisherman & gardener. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Jean E. (Lamphier) Foster, Berwick; brothers, Lyle (Kathleen) Foster, Cambridge Station; Richard “Dick” (Barbara) Foster, Waverley; sister, Pauline Church, Bedford; several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Malcom & sister-in-law, Jean Foster; brother-in-law, Harold Church. There was no visitation. A Masonic Service and Funeral Service followed by a reception were held at 2 p.m. on Monday March 24, all in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). March 16 to March 22, 2008, Continued Murray Donald Gertridge – 59, of Gaspereau, Kings County, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at home. Born in Gaspereau, he was a son of the late Starr and Hilda (Schofield) Gertridge. He was a lifelong resident of the Gaspereau Valley and spent his working career farming throughout Gaspereau. He enjoyed his family, his community, music and horses. He is survived by two sisters, Bonnie (Larry) Wheaton, Gaspereau; Ferne (Gerald) Eye, Greenwich; two brothers, Garth (Geneva), Gaspereau; David (Marion), Gaspereau Mountain, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Faye Stirling; three brothers, Wilfred, Blaine and Ross. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there was no visitation by family request. The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008 in the Gaspereau Baptist Church, Reverend Mark Shaw officiated. Burial took place in the Gaspereau Cemetery. A reception followed in the Gaspereau Community Centre. Family flowers only, by request. March 16 to March 22, 2008, Continued O’CONNELL, Carl James, 61, Bear Point, Shelburne County. It is with broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of Carl, on Sunday, March 16, 2008, at his home in Bear Point. Born January 4, 1947, in Stoney Island, to the late Sylvester and Eva (Ross) O’Connell, Carl loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed spending time with Garrett, Dalton and Rylan and teasing everyone he met. He was an avid “Ice Dogs” hockey fan. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, and best friend, Cheryl Roxanne (Shand); daughter, Lesa Perry, Shag Harbour; son, Shannon, Halifax; grandsons, Garrett, Dalton and Rylan Perry, Shag Harbour; brothers, Roy (Thelma), Barrington Passage, Emerson (Susan), Doctor’s Cove; niece, Tashina; nephews, Quentin and Shawn; in-laws, Arnold and Ida Shand; special cousins, Sylvester and Leo (Trish) Atkinson; special friends, Martin and Dianne Crowell; his extended family and many friends. He will be greatly missed by his faithful canine, “Pete”. He was a hard worker, having worked many jobs in his lifetime. His most recent were Martin Crowell Contracting, R & T Excavating, Wayne Newell Contracting, and D.M. Snow Contracting. He was well known for his skills as a plumber, electrician and an all-around “Mr. Fix-It’. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel, Barrington, on Thursday, March 20 with Pastor Phil Williams officiating. Donations in Carl’s memory can be made to the Atlantic Cemetery, Stoney Island, The Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund, or the Bear Point Advent Christian Church.

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Lois (Berreau) Daunt. She moved to Yarmouth in 1994 to live near her family. She was a mother and a homemaker. Joan was predeceased by her first husband, James David Chandler, and her second husband, John Jenkins. She is survived by her sister, Sally Reeves; sons, James (Julie) Chandler, Yarmouth, NS; Matthew (Diane) Chandler, Shelburne, Vermont; daughter, Pauline (Greg Chanis) Chandler, Keene, New Hampshire; grandchildren, Carl, Sydney, Jon-Erik, Quincy Chandler; nieces, Joann Reeves, Meredith Steers. There was no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Yarmouth. Funeral service was held at 11 AM, Monday, March 24 from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, William Street, Yarmouth, Father Tom Vaughn officiated. A reception followed in the parish hall. Burial will take place in Lakelawn Cemetery, Minneapolis, at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Church, or to the Arthritis Society. March 16 to March 22, 2008, Continued FRASER, Mary Elizabeth "Libby" - 51 Ellis Rd., Yarmouth, passed away, very peacefully after a battle with cancer on March 19, 2008, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital with family by her side. Born April 19, 1920, daughter of the late Daniel and Annie (Wagner) Goodwin. Surviving are her children, Anne (Warren-deceased) LeBlanc, Yarmouth; Sharon Kerfont, Truro; Charlotte (Gregory) Mailman, Nictaux Falls; David (Bonnie) Fraser, Chegoggin; grandchildren, Tesa Maillet and Robert Fraser (raised by Libby and Lloyd), Kevin, Angel, Shelley, Nicole, Kristal, Andy, Mary Jane, Sarah, and great-grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer, Andre, Heather, Logan, Sean, Damien, Connor, Colton, Quynn, Cheyenne, Kale; brother, William (Helen) Goodwin. Also surviving is her lifelong friend and cousin, Norma (Joe) Brittain. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Lloyd; brothers, George and Warren; sisters, Alice and Dorothy. Libby had knitted over 2,000 small baby bonnets, which were donated for needy children around the world, and was a great lover of animals and plants. Visitation was held Friday, March 21 at 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held in Sweeny's Funeral Chapel, Yarmouth, on Saturday, March 22, at 6 p.m., Rev. Bill Newell officiated. March 16 to March 22, 2008, Continued REGAN, William Gordon “Bill” - 55, Dartmouth/Windsor. It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our father, son, brother, and friend Bill, who succumbed to his illness Thursday March 20, 2008. Born September 18, 1952, in Halifax, he was the son of Parker Norman Regan and Betty Joan Regan. Bill was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying activities such as, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a prominent businessman in Windsor, most notably at the Ski-Doo dealership, R.D. Holmes. He was also known for his very creative sense of humour. Bill is survived by his loving children, Karley Lynn, Calgary, Alta.; Barrett William, Ellershouse; Kelsey Lauren, Halifax. He is also survived by his parents, Parker (Jean) Regan, Windsor; and Betty Joan Regan, Halifax; brother, Bruce (Debbie), Windsor; and sister, Barbara, Toronto, Ont.; also niece, Nataly and nephew, Mathew. Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lohnes Funeral Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 26. A service celebrating the life of Bill Regan was held 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in Lohnes Funeral Service Chapel, Rev. Bill Gibson officiated. March 16 to March 22, 2008, Continued The death of Luwella McIntyre, wife of the late Harold J. McIntyre occurred on Friday March 21, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1921 in Sault St. Marie, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Loretta (Gagnon) Prisque. Luwella was a member of the Clean Air Coalition and previously active with the NDP Party. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her loving family. She is survived by her sons John McIntyre (Denise) of Miramichi City and Chris McIntyre (Kathryn) of Quispamsis; grandchildren: James McIntyre, Melessa McIntyre, Michael McIntyre and Gregory McIntyre; nephews Andrew Burgess (Esther), Phillip Burgess (Susan), Fraser Livingstone (Randy) and Byron Livingstone (Kathy). Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by her sisters Muriel Livingstone and Lucille Burgess. By request there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service was held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Wednesday March 26, 2008. Interment followed in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
