Ever wondered what your house looks like from the air? Have a relative living in another province or a friend in another country whose home you’ve never seen?

Sign up for a computer tutorial and let C@P instructor Ian Manning show you how to use Google Earth. The library has received a C@P grant and will be offering one-on-one tutorials throughout the month of March.

Call the library at 542-3005 to book a session in the late afternoon or evening. Ian can also help you with e-mail, YouTube, Facebook, Google SketchUp, or MicroSoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and answer any other questions you might have about how to use a computer and surf the Net.

An invitation is extended to all Port Williams Seniors to come to the library’s March anniversary event Tues., March 25 at 2 p.m., a special presentation of library services including large print books, magazines, audiobooks (on cassette tape and CD) movie videos and DVDs.

Branch librarian Sue Mullen will demonstrate how to find and request materials on the online catalogue. A staff member from library HQ will be on hand to explain the regional library’s new Books by Mail program. Refreshments will be served.

You may be surprised at what you’ll find at the library! And all available to you as soon as you sign up for your free library card.

The last of the March teen events at the library with C@P instructor Ian Manning will be held Fri., March 28 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.. Teens will be filming a video using MicroSoft MovieMaker then creating a YouTube account and uploading the video. One of the things they will be doing will be making a how-to video for Dance Dance Revolution.

The East and West Kings District Women's Institutes and Planters Equipment are holding a Farm Safety Day Camp for children. It will be held at Planter's Equipment, Steam Mill March 29 from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. It is open to children ages 8-12. The cost is $5 and includes a morning snack and lunch.

There will be sessions on large machinery, small machinery, first response and sun safety and fun activities. For more information and registration, contact Ruth at 542-7141 or Marie at 678-5926.

Valley United will hold try-outs for Tier 1 U-14 to U-18 (Male and Female) and Tier 2 U-12 and U-14 (Male and Female). Tryouts will start March 29.

The PWES spaghetti supper will be held April 5 in the school lunchroom from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Admission is freewill offering.

The Port Williams United Baptist Church will host a series of community interest courses on Monday nights from April 7 to April 28. The first course, “End of Life Issues”, deals with concerns you and your family may have regarding death and dying.

The second course, “In the Shadow of Blomidon”, will explore the geological and historical stories of the region. All courses run from 7-8:30 p.m. at the church and are free of charge. Pre-registration is not necessary. Come to as many sessions as you can. Refreshments will be provided. For further information, call 542-3495 or e-mail pwubc@aliantzinc.ca.
