Hannah Miller Memorial Hockey Tournament underway in Wolfville
Acadia Arena in Wolfville is hosting the third annual Hannah Miller Memorial Hockey Tournament today, as 16 teams of boys and girls aged 4 to 8 from across the Valley take to the ice with the main goal of having fun. Miller was an avid hockey player in the Acadia Minor Hockey Association who was involved in a fatal accident in Port Williams in 2005. In honour of her memory, the Hannah Miller Memorial Fund was established. The primary objective of the tournament is to help raise money for the fund, which is intended to promote women in sport and provide financial assistance to help young, local players in the Quick-Start and Timbits programs pay for registration fees and equipment. The opening game on Rink 1 featured Acadia Black with Red and White versus Acadia White with Red and Black. Reporter Kirk Starratt was on hand and files the following video package…
