The fire that destroyed an East Uniacke home March 6 is still under investigation, however, Mt. Uniacke Fire Chief Doug Carver said they do not suspect foul play.
The 911 call was received at 12:23 Thursday afternoon and the MacKenzie Rd. residence was fully involved when help arrived.
“There was smoke coming out of the windows when we arrived,” Carver said.
Preliminary investigations show that the fire ignited in a downstairs bedroom. The 15-year-old son of the Pittman family was in the house at the time and had called out to a neighbour, who put through the 911 call.
Windsor, Brooklyn and Beaverbank departments responded in mutual aid, but were unable to save the home. There were no injuries and the teenage boy was able to escape unharmed. Chief Carver said the fairly new home was insured and he believes the family has gone to stay with relatives.
Mr. Pittman declined comment at the time of the fire.
