Grand View Manor matters
Thank heavens spring is on its way. We here at Grand View Manor in Berwick are tired of the snow and ice.
February was a short month, and we were busy. We are up with modern technology. We have a Wii, given to us by one of our resident’s son. The residents enjoy it and are learning how to play the active games.
We had a wonderful visit from
Denise Ford’s Brownie group.
We had a Valentine dance with music by the Bauchmans. Queen of Hearts was Frances Kelly and King was Harry Gilchrist. Jill Hicks donated beautiful Valentine cookies, which the residents really enjoyed.
We had winter games for twodays. Tuesday morning, started with our torch parade. We played curling, hockey, luge and had a snowball throw. Units decorated, and first place was Winslow, which represented China; second place was Laundry, representing France; and third place was the office, representing Ireland. For our closing ceremony Wednesday, George Moody was kind enough to come and present the ribbons to the following: snowball throw: first place, Bill Hilchie; second place, Gladys Eaton; third place, Ethel Power. Luge: first place, Kaye Cappell; second place, Vera Hunt; third place, Isabel Corbin. Hockey - first place, Frances Kelly; second place, Joyce Misner; third place, Elizabeth Criss.
We held a sweetheart tea on Winslow. Families were invited to join us for lunch and music.
The residents were able to get out once for lunch.
We welcome Hillary Alian and Brittany Snow as new junior volunteers and Kelly Veillete as a new volunteer. If anyone would like to volunteer, please call Lynn Hardy at the manor.
The golf tournament plans are underway. If anyone would like more info, call the manor.
Gerry Little is painting murals on every unit in the building. It really brightens up walls. The residents are enjoying watching him.
Robin Foley from Berwick school has been up for Exploratories. Robin has been playing the piano and entertaining residents.
Murray Brydon has had an easy winter, but now we are putting him to work. Lone Pine Farm was kind enough to give us eggs for hatching. Now “Dr. Murray” will be busy turning and watching his eggs. Hopefully, they will hatch in time for Easter.
