Firefighters respond to cat-up-a-tree call

When it comes to firefighters performing rescues, perhaps nothing is more cliché than the cat stuck in the tree. However, Kentville Fire Chief Shawn Ripley said his department was called to investigate just such an incident last week.
Ripley said they investigated the call on Sanford Road in North Kentville Tuesday night, Feb. 26. However, someone was able to get the cat out of the tree before firefighters had a chance to take action.
Kentville firefighters responded to a medical emergency in Upper Dyke Village Sunday, Feb. 24.
Kentville responded to a fire alarm sounding at the senior citizens’ apartments in Centreville Monday, Feb. 25. Ripley said someone was cooking and set off the alarm.
Kentville firefighters responded to a flood condition at a home on West Main Street Wednesday, Feb. 27.
Kentville firefighters were called to the scene of a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 101 in Coldbrook Thursday morning, Feb. 28 at 5 a.m. Ripley said there were minor injuries involved.
Kentville was called about a smoke condition in a house on Cornwallis Crescent, Coldbrook, Feb. 28. However, Ripley said it turned out to be a non-event.
Canning firefighters responded to a call for medical assistance on Pleasant Street, Kingsport, Saturday morning, Feb. 23.
New Minas Fire Chief James Redmond said his department responded to a medical emergency on Milne Avenue last week.
Wolfville Fire Chief Tim MacLeod said his department responded to a single-vehicle crash on Gaspereau Mountain the morning of Feb. 27 at 8:40 a.m. The call came in as a woman trapped under a car, but she was free by the time emergency responders arrived at the scene. There were no serious injuries reported.
Wolfville firefighters responded to a single-vehicle rollover on the Ridge Road the morning of Feb. 28 at 8:23 a.m. MacLeod said there were no serious injuries reported.
