Wolfville downtown targeted by break-ins

Eight businesses in one building on Front Street, Wolfville, the Curves location and the Wolfville Baptist Church were all broken into last week.

A thief or thieves broke a window in the office to enter the church overnight Feb. 26. They ransacked several offices and sprayed a fire extinguisher. A lap top computer was stolen along with a camera.

On the same night, the Harris Building was entered, and then doors into businesses broken. Sgt. Ron Smith of the Wolfville RCMP said that the front door to the structure was undamaged.

The float was taken from the Front Street Cafe. Smith noted that the other business owners, including a family physician and a chiropractor, are still determining their losses.

“Some items have been recovered, but we are waiting for lists of what is missing,” he said.

Then, overnight Feb. 28, perpetrators broke into the Curves location.

“We believe all the breaks are related,” Smith said. “We have an active investigation on-going and have brought in extra members. We are making progress in determining who created these unfortunate circumstances.”
