The Events column is for non-profit listings of events in Digby County. Items may run twice for free before the event’s date. March 3 - Jam session in Royal Canadian Legion, Clementsport, from 7:30 – 10:30 p.m., sponsored by Legion Auxiliary. Free will offering. Everyone welcome.

March 3 - Digby General Hospital Auxiliary monthly meeting at 10 a.m. in hospital boardroom. New members welcomed.

March 5 - Bear River & Area Community Health Clinic annual general meeting at 7 p.m. in the clinic on River Road. All welcome & encouraged to attend.

March 7 - World Day of Prayer ecumenical service at 3 p.m. in St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Weymouth North. Everyone welcome.

March 7 - Health & wellness fair in Bear River Fire Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. , presented by Bear River & Area Health Clinic in partnership with Juniper House Outreach. For information, call 467-3611 or 245-4789.

March 8 - Pre-Easter breakfast in Bear River United Baptist Church at 9:30 a.m. with guest speaker Herb Anderson.

March 8 - Country breakfast in the Baptist Church, Barton, from 7:30 – 10 a.m.

March 9 - Skating carnival in Digby Area Arena at 2 p.m. Admission.

March 10-14 - March Break camp with adventure, arts, crafts, sports and more for ages 5 – 12. Daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For information, call 467-0225.

March 11 - ‘Clowns tell stories’ program for children ages 5 – 10 in Digby library from 1:30-2:30 p.m.

March 14 - Veterans, ex-military, wives dinner in House of Wong, Digby, at 11:30 a.m. For information, call Vaughn Adams at 245-2388.

March 15 - The Amazing Magic Show sponsored by Digby Special Olympics, from 2–4 p.m. in Digby High School. Philip & Henry Productions Inc. For information call 245-1811.

March 15 - Darts in Royal Canadian Legion, Digby, at 6:30 p.m. For information, call 245-4070.

March 15 - Pre-Easter breakfast in Bear River United Baptist Church at 9:30 a.m. with guest speaker Rev. David Hopper. Hymn sing. Free will donations.

March 15 - Coffeehouse open mic night hosted by Shoestring Sling Band at 7:30 in Oakdene Centre, Bear River. Sponsored by Bear River Music Society.

March 16 - Corned beef & cabbage dinner in Freemasons Hall, King Street, Digby, from noon to 6 p.m.

March 19 - Relay for Life team captains meeting at 7 p.m. in Trinity Anglican Hall, Queen Street.

To April 9 - Artist Marsha Lewis, an acrylic painter, is featured among artists showing new works at the Scallop Palette Gallery in Digby General Hospital.




MONDAYS - Digby Badminton Club at Digby Regional High School runs Monday nights until May 8. Cost is $35 for the season or $3 per night. Call 245-3759 for more information.

TUESDAYS - ‘Moms & Tots’ group meets in the Community Room at Digby Atlantic Superstore from 10-11:30 a.m.

WEDNESDAYS - Mental illnesses support group meets in Digby General Hospital boardroom at 7 p.m. Contact John Roswell at 245-4552 or Vicki Surette or Michael Gaudet at 778-0193. Mental health support group meets in Weymouth library on first and third Tuesdays of the month. Call 837-7351.

WEDNESDAYS - Exercise class for older adults. Advent Christian Church, Bear River, at 10:30 a.m. For information, call Eleanor 467-3091.

THURSDAYS - 603rd Weymouth Royal Canadian Army Cadets meets in Weymouth Consolidated School from 6:30-9 p.m. Looking for new members aged 12-18. For information, contact Lieut. Robert Sweeney at (902) 837-7419 after 6 p.m.

SUNDAYS - Hill Grove United Baptist Church holds it Sunday school beginning at 9:45 a.m. (preschoolers to adults) and church service at 11 a.m.

MONTHLY - Chronic pain support group meets the last Monday of every month at Digby Superstore from 7-9 p.m.

MONTHLY - MS support group meets last Tuesday of month in Digby General Hospital cafeteria from 6:30–8 p.m. For information, call John Bent at 245-6707.
