Wildcats host season ending tournament
The successful South Queens Junior High School Wildcats boys basketball team is hosting the area’s season ending tournament Feb. 29 to March 1.
The Wildcats open the tournament 10 a.m. Feb. 29 against Bayview Community School, and also play at 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
New Ross and Hebbville are also competing.
Team Manager April Comeau says, “They have had a wonderfully successful season. At this point, they have won nine and lost three.”
Two of the losses were to “A” teams. South Queens is a B division team. Comeau adds the team later defeated one of the A teams that beat them.
The first game on Saturday begins 10 a.m. The championship game is 2:30 p.m.
Skills competitions will be held throughout the tournament as well.
Comeau says Liverpool Regional High School should be excited about this group of athletes. “If these kids stick together through high school, right now the potential is huge.”
She adds three of the players are already over six-feet in height.
Dan Comeau coaches the team.
