What better way to stave off the chill of a winter’s night than an evening of baroque? The Blue Pearl Baroque Sextet performed its inaugural solo performance Feb. 24, at the West Hants Historical Society. The newly-formed ensemble performed a collection of music from the early 18th century, including Handel, Telemann and Corelli, to name a few.
Conductor Roger Taylor, who was on harpsichord that evening, said that although the style of music is new to Windsor and he was pleased with the reception that evening, “Baroque is very popular in urban areas, I hope it does well here.” Seats filled to capacity quickly as members of the community prepared to embrace the dark and dreamy compilations. Members of the sextet also perform with the Four Seasons Orchestra and are now in demand for a variety of concerts, including weddings and other formal occasions, with their first major engagement being a recent Oak Island Inn convention.
Taylor said he would like to see the sextet perform three or four times a year in Windsor. For those who had the pleasure of soaking up this recital, and those who wished they had, this is good news, indeed.
