Feb. 26

The Yarmouth Regional Hospital’s women’s auxiliary will hold their regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 2:30 p.m. at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital in the Bluenose Room.

The regular monthly meeting of the East Pubnico Fire Department will be held at their fire hall on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.

Fundraiser

Feb. 28

Branch 61 of the Royal Canadian Legion is having a fundraising supper and variety show Thursday, Feb. 28. Supper starts at 6 p.m., show at 7. $5 per person tickets at door, for those 19 and over. Baked bean supper with ham, brown bread, dessert, tea and coffee. Info: 902-742-7767.

ELF and spa sessions

Feb. 29

The Next ELF (Everybody Loves

Friday) session will be at the Brazil Lake Wesleyan Church Friday, Feb. 29, 6:30-8:30 p.m. A night of games, science experiments, snack and an Easter craft for children ages four to 12. Rappie pie fundraiser

Feb. 29

The Knights of Columbus 2181 Yarmouth will be holding a rappie pie fundraiser at their hall on Collins Street on Friday Feb. 29, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m--cost is $5 per order, eat in or delivery available.

March

Food bank drive

March 1

The Yarmouth area Boy Scouts will be conducting a food drive on March 1 from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the Chebogue Road from Sand Beach around to the Arcadia corner. The Wyman Road, Hilton Road, Chebogue Point Road and Dunham’s Landing will also be canvassed.

Bean supper

March 1

There will be a bean supper at the South Ohio Community Centre on March 1 from 4:30-6 p.m. $7 adults, $4 children.

Baked bean take out

March 1

There will be a baked bean take out at the Plymouth Hall on Saturday, March 1, from 3-5 p.m. $5. Proceeds for the hall.

Temple Baptist Church will be having a beans and hotdog supper on Saturday, March 1 from 4-6. Dessert, tea, and coffee. Free will offering. More info call 902-742-1867.

Auction

March 1

A talents and treasures auction will be held at Beacon United Church, March 1 (storm date is March 8). Doors open at 2 p.m., roast pork supper at 5. Tickets $10.

Dance

March 1

A benefit dance for the petit copain preschool at the Wedgeport legion hall March 1. There will be a rappie pie sale beginning at 4 p.m. and a Chinese auction and dance to begin at 9 p.m. Info: call 902-740-2642.

The Southwest Paddlers Association’s annual meeting will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, March 3, in the library at École secondaire de par-en-bas in Tusket. Dues of $15/person will be payable at the meeting.

World Day of Prayer

March 7

The World Day of Prayer service will be held on Friday, March 7, at 7 p.m. at Zion Baptist Church, Parade St., Yarmouth. Churches taking part are Beacon, Holy Trinity, St. Ambrose, New Life, Yarmouth North Baptist, Salvation Army and Zion Baptist. (There will also be an ecumenical service at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Weymouth North, Digby County, at 3 p.m.)

There will be a Saint Patrick’s fundraiser supper at the Beacon Church auditorium on Saturday, March 15, from 4-6. Menu includes punch, beef stew, Irish soda bread, cheesecake, cookies. Divorce care program

Starts March 24

Yarmouth Wesleyan Church will be offering a 13 week program on divorce care starting Monday, March 14 6:30-8 p.m. Topics include: what’s happening to me?, the road to healing/finding help, facing anger, depression, single sexuality and more. Art gallery tours

Fridays

Actors needed

Heritage month

February

During Heritage Month the Firefighters’ Museum of Nova Scotia, Main Street, Yarmouth, invites the public to visit, try on firefighting gear, take a seat in the museum’s 1935 Chevy Bickle and have your photo taken (free of charge.) The museum is opened Monday to Friday, 9-4 and Saturday, 1-4.

Volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed to fill several positions on the Yarmouth Red Cross Emergency response Team in Yarmouth. Focus on providing relief assistance to people in the community who have experienced a personal disaster or responding to a medium or large scale disaster. Training provided. The Baby and Me peer support group meets Tuesday mornings, 10 - 11:30, at Yarmouth Superstore’s community room. All infants with their parents and/or grandparents, as well as pregnant women, are welcome. Peer breastfeeding support is also available. Further info at 902-742-7141.

Bridge and other card games are held every Thursday afternoon at the South Ohio Community Centre from 1-4 p.m. Light refreshments served. Admission $2.
