Two-vehicle crash in East Gore claims young driver's life
A two-vehicle crash Monday morning, Feb. 18, has claimed the life of a young man.
At 7:10 a.m. Feb. 18, RCMP, EHS and local fire services respond to a fatal motor vehicle crash on Highway 202 in East Gore.
RCMP Northern Corridor Traffic Services reported that the 18-year-old male driver of a Dodge Neon was traveling north when he lost control on a curve in the road, crossed the centre line and struck an oncoming south-bound vehicle.
The Neon driver was ejected from his vehicle and later pronounced dead at the scene. Seatbelt non-usage was a contributing factor in the fatality, police said.
The driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Weather conditions at the time of the collision were snow changing to rain, and the road was very slippery.
