Winds of Change members are busy rehearsing for “OUR FAVOURITE BROADWAY…but done our way! An evening of fun and laughter from shows past in support of the Winds of Change” 8 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Astor Theatre.
Winds of Change Retrospective
Liverpool’s Amateur theatre group, The Winds of Change, is presenting what promises to be an exciting and enjoyable evening performance on Feb. 23 at 8 p.m.
The show is entitled, “OUR FAVOURITE BROADWAY…but done our way! An evening of fun and laughter from shows past in support of the Winds of Change.” A dedicated group of performers and crew have been busy preparing and rehearsing the show for the past six weeks and are very excited about the results.
This performance will feature music and comedy from some of the most memorable shows the Winds of Change have presented over the years, and even a few that they haven’t. With music from shows like Evita, the Sound of Music, Man of La Mancha, Little Shop of Horrors, Nunsense, and the King and I - to name a few - this production promises to be another Winds of Change showstopper. With an all local cast, they have created an evening to celebrate theatre, music, and comedy in a way that only they can.
The Winds of Change holds an impressive record of producing musicals and plays for our community over the past 34 years. The group has traveled to other provinces and countries and received critical acclaim and awards for its work, most recently winning Outstanding Canadian Production for “A Promise is a Promise” in the 2006 Liverpool International Theatre Festival.
As well as the Feb. 23 retrospective, they are hard at work rehearsing a new play called “Titanic: Tragedy & Trial” for their Spring production in April. The first act of this play will also be the Winds of Change entry in the 2008 Liverpool International Theatre Festival to be held at the Astor in May.
Tickets for this show are $15 for adults and $10 for students. They are available at the Astor box office or by calling 354-5250. Don’t miss this great night of entertainment.
