Get off the streets
Wolfville tows dozens of in-the-way parked cars in storm clean-up work

Frequent snowstorms have caused some extra pressures for snow removal on Wolfville’s narrow streets.
After one storm recently, 25 vehicles had to be towed to allow plows to clear streets.
“There were four crews ready to go at midnight,” recalls Wolfville RCMP Sgt. Ron Smith, “and the cars were in the way.
“We not trying to inconvenience people; in fact, we feel terrible - but it’s been a huge issue this year.”
Smith says he receives more phone calls about winter parking than anything else.
“We’re not looking for cars to tow but, when there’s a storm, sometimes we have no option if the plow is there to do the street.”
The town’s winter parking regulations, permitted under the Motor Vehicle Act, go into effect every Dec. 1 and stay in effect until March 31. Street parking is prohibited from midnight until 6 a.m., or from one hour after the start of a snowstorm and continues until two hours after a given storm has concluded.
