Truck rolls over car on 101

A transport truck crashed into a car at Exit 14 on Highway 101 near Coldbrook Feb. 14.

RCMP Sgt. Rich Walkinshaw says it appeared the driver of the car was attempting to cross the highway or complete a U-turn after entering the on-ramp, but failed.

“The transport truck struck the driver’s side and ran over the car,” Walkinshaw said. “There was one person driving the car and one in the truck, but neither were seriously injured.

“The driver of the car was taken to hospital and released shortly afterwards,” Walkinshaw said. “You have to think of how lucky the driver was.”

It could have been a lot worse, he said. “Seatbelts save lives.”
