Volunteers are the Heart of the Community
Do you know someone who exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism? Someone who goes above and beyond to help others in the community, and makes life better for his/her fellow citizens by volunteering time, skills and energy? Recognize that contribution to our community by nominating them as a "Representative Volunteer". The Region of Queens Municipality annually coordinates the Representative Volunteer Selection program, in which two individuals are chosen to represent Queens County at the Volunteer Day festivities coordinated by Recreation Nova Scotia and held in Halifax, on April 24, 2008. Queens has a strong volunteer community... look around you and acknowledge people who enrich our lives! Have pride in the strong volunteer community that makes Queens County such a great please to live, work and play! Select someone from your own organization, another community group, or someone who volunteers without belonging to a group. Nominate someone young or old, a volunteer with a group, or an individual who volunteers without being part of an organization... whoever you feel most represents volunteer spirit! Please contact the Recreation & Community Facilities Department at 354-5741 for a nomination form or more information, or download a form from our Volunteerism Site at: volunteer.queens.ca/index.asp?id=240 The nomination deadline is Feb. 21, 2008.
