Police warn about possible local fraud scam

The RCMP wish to advise the public that an individual has been attempting to scam local businesses by attempting to redeem money for fraudulent purchases.
Grocery stores in Middleton and Kingston report that an individual has been attempting to get money back for items under false pretenses.
The Annapolis detachment responded to 45 calls for assistance during the week of February 4 through February 11. Among these were three motor vehicle accidents; one false 911; two false alarms and two domestic matters.
Following are highlights of these calls:
-- February 4 at 12:33 p.m. Police received a mischief call from Middleton. An individual ordered a pizza, but the delivery driver was unable to locate the customer at the given address. An officer telephoned the individual who placed the order and was told that he mistakenly gave the wrong address.
-- February 4 at 1:46 p.m. A break and enter was reported into a Bridgetown residence. A number of household items were taken.
-- February 4 at 4:46 p.m. A break and enter was reported into a residence in Nictaux. Investigation revealed the report was unfounded.
-- February 5 at 2:42 p.m. A Lequille resident reported a disturbance.
-- February 5 at 2:44 p.m. Police received a report of an impaired driver in Wilmot. A vehicle was driving erratically, forcing others off the road. Police intercepted the driver on the east side of Middleton. The individual refused the breathalyzer and was held over night.
-- February 5 at 3:50 p.m. A license plate was stolen from a vehicle parked in Wilmot.
-- February 5 at 5:43 p.m. Police were called to a traffic collision on Highway 101 near Brooklyn. A vehicle hit a guardrail and was blocking traffic. No injuries were reported.
-- February 5 at 7:54 p.m. Police were called to a motor vehicle accident in Belleisle after a vehicle struck a deer.
-- February 7 at 9:49 a.m. A Bear River resident reported a complaint of theft under $5,000 after tires and rims were stolen from a vehicle.
-- February 7 at 10:51 a.m. A motorist reported that a driver failed to stop for a school bus on the Stronach Mountain Rd.
-- February 7 at 2:31 p.m. Police were called to Wilmot after a resident found a suspicious bottle had been left in the driveway and appeared to have exploded. The hazardous device technicians were called from Halifax to examine it.
-- February 8 at 1:30 p.m. Police received a report that an individual was trying to fraudulently obtain credit at a Middleton business. A male asked for a refund on a food product, this same tactic was used on a Kingston business.
-- February 8 at 7:35 a.m. Police were called to a traffic collision in Bridgetown. One person was treated for injuries and released.
-- February 8 at 10:04 p.m. Police received a report that individuals were setting off flares in Middleton.
-- February 9 at 2:30 a.m. Police received a report of a possible prowler in Middleton.
-- February 9 at 2:14 p.m. A Mount Rose resident reported receiving threats.
-- February 9 at 7:48 p.m. Police were called to a loud party in Moschelle.
-- February 9 at 9:25 p.m. Police received a report of a possible impaired driver in West Dalhousie.
-- February 10 at 1:09 a.m. An attempted break and enter was reported at a residence in Wilmot after slight damage was detected to a door.
-- February 10 at 4:25 a.m. Police received a request to locate an individual. A female had left a party in Lawrencetown and not retuned home. The female was located and brought home.
-- February 10 at 11:07 a.m. An ATV was reported stolen from a Paradise barn.
-- February 10 at 2:14 p.m. A Nictaux business reported damage to steps and railing.
-- February 10 at 2:48 p.m. A Centrelea business reported a possible break and enter.
