Crashed, stolen car belonged to victim’s parents
BY WENDY ELLIOTT

Kings County Register

RCMP have identified the young men killed in the February 2 single-vehicle crash as Jeffrey Michael Mackenzie 19, and Anthony Brian Hubley, 20, both of Cambridge.

Police were called to the scene on Highway 1 in Cambridge at approximately 9:30 a.m. Feb. 2, said Kings RCMP Sgt. Rich Walkinshaw.

Residents of the area had heard a loud crash at approximately 3 a.m., but could not see anything amiss. The crash scene was discovered in the morning and EHS and the Waterville fire department responded. The two young men were pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation revealed the vehicle was westbound on Highway 1, lost control, left the north side of the road, flew into the air and came to rest on its side in a treed lot between two houses.

Excessive speed and poor weather conditions were contributing factors to the crash. Furthermore, both young men were not wearing seatbelts.

The Chevrolet Cobalt involved in the collision was reported missing by MacKenzie’s parents at 7:15 a.m. Jeffrey Mackenzie did not have a valid driver’s license.
