Art exhibit
Ends Jan. 31
The Way of the Print, an exhibit featuring several of the many ways of making prints, will be shown at Th'YARC gallery on Parade Street until Jan. 31. Hours Tuesday to Friday: 10 to 4 each day. Types of work include etching, collograph, lithograph, linocut, mezzotint, and etching with chin collé. Most of the prints shown were made at Th'YARC’s print shop under the direction of Cecil Day.
The mezzotints were done during a workshop given by Diane Rosati. Two of Rosati's mezzotints are included in the show. For more information, contact Virginia Stoddard at 902-742-4182.
Heritage month
February
During Heritage Month the Firefighters’ Museum of Nova Scotia, Main Street, Yarmouth, invites the public to visit, try on firefighting gear, take a seat in the museum’s 1935 Chevy Bickle and have your photo taken (free of charge.) The museum is opened Monday to Friday, 9-4 and Saturday, 1-4.
Car seat inspection

The Buckle up Bears Car Seat Clinic, which offers free child’s car seat inspections, will be held at the Yarmouth fire hall, Friday, Feb. 1, from 2-5 p.m. To register for an appointment call Scott Lutz at 902-742-7813 at the Co-operators.

Fundraising dance
Feb. 2
The Arcadia Home and School Association is holding a fundraising dance on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Yarmouth fire hall. Music by The Grinders. Tickets, ($10 per person), are available at Arcadia School, Carl’s Store, Cassa, City Drug and at the door.

Art gallery tours

Volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed to fill several positions on the Yarmouth Red Cross Emergency response Team in Yarmouth. Focus on providing relief assistance to people in the community who have experienced a personal disaster or responding to a medium or large scale disaster. Training provided. Support group

The Baby and Me peer support group meets Tuesday mornings, 10 - 11:30, at Yarmouth Superstore’s community room. All infants with their parents and/or grandparents, as well as pregnant women, are welcome. Peer breastfeeding support is also available. Further info at 902-742-7141.

Bridge and other card games are held every Thursday afternoon at the South Ohio Community Centre from 1-4 p.m. Light refreshments served. Admission $2.
