Police have arrested and charged two men and a youth in connection with an alleged home invasion in Kentville Wednesday night. The search for the third suspect ended Saturday afternoon, when the 46-year old turned himself in to police.

The incident was connected with the accidental firearm-related death of a teen New Year’s Eve.

The home invasion took place at a Canaan Avenue residence prior to 6 p.m. The male victim in his forties was allegedly taken from his home by the trio, one of which is believed to have had a weapon, to another residence in town for questioning.

The questioning mistakenly concerned the ownership of the firearm involved in the New Year’s Eve fatal accident that claimed the life of a popular Kentville-area teen. The suspects thought their alleged victim had provided the firearm.

The kidnapping victim is not, however, a suspect in the fatal accident matter.

Two of the home invasion suspects were located at an Aldershot address later that night. Police apprehended them there early Thursday morning.

Cpl. Ken Reade said Saturday that the third suspect arrived at the Kentville police station door at 3:35 p.m. that afternoon and turned himself in.

“It worked out very well,” Reade said.

Police charged the 46-year-old with the same charges facing the 23-year-old and youth -- with break and entry into a dwelling, assault with a weapon, and with kidnapping while using a weapon.

Police knew who the third suspect was and his family had been notified.

Meanwhile, police continue their investigation into the ownership of the 0.32-calibre prohibited revolver involved in the accidental death of the teen New Year’s Eve. Police recovered the firearm at the address of the incident.
