Avondale man faces various firearms-related charges

An Avondale man faces a number of firearms-related charges following an alleged New Year’s Eve shooting spree in Hants County.
The 27-year-old suspect appeared in Kentville provincial court Jan. 2. Judge Alan Tufts ordered him remanded and to return to court Jan. 4.
The accused faces two charges of possessing a firearm – a 0.303 calibre rifle – for a purpose dangerous to the public peace; two counts of discharging a firearm while committing indictable mischief; two counts of committing mischief by damaging or destroying property valued at less than $5,000; and unlawful storage of a firearm.
The firearm possessions allegedly took place at Ellershouse and St. Croix; the discharge mischiefs at St. Croix and Avondale; the damage or destruction mischiefs at Ellershouse and Avondale; and the unlawful storage, Avondale.
