Possible new site for Windsor Curling Club?
Representatives from the Windsor Curling Club (MCC) have made a presentation to Windsor Town council on possible sites for rebuilding the facility.
Charles Stock, head of the planning committee for the WCC, told council that the committee had reviewed several sites, including properties owned by the Town of Windsor and the Municipality of West Hants as well as other lands.
The committee presented Windsor Town council with the opportunity of seeing the Curling Club build at Elmcroft Park, adjacent to the Hants Aquatic facility. Stock suggested that such an alliance would create a multi-use facility with shared parking, common space and the possibility of future developments such as an outdoor rink surface.
Representatives from the Hants Aquatic Society were also present and spoke positively about a shared geothermal heating/cooling system, which would eliminate the use of fossil fuels and could possibly extend the use of the pool season into June and September.
Council has requested a staff report on the potential of a multi-use facility at Elmcroft Park.
