Final Liverpool vandals sentenced
Robert Slaunwhite, 18, and a 17-year-old Liverpool young offender received one-year probation sentences Dec. 18 in Liverpool Provincial Court for their part in a vulgar May 20 vandalism spree.
Slaunwhite received a one-year probation sentence in addition to 100 hours of community service while the young offender was sentenced to one year on probation and must pay $1,400 in restitution.
Two other 17-year-old (at the time) young offenders received one-year probation sentences earlier this year in addition to 100 hours of community service.
The Liverpool spray-painting spree was carried out during the early morning hours of May 20 when some buildings, signs, the community’s heritage cemetery, and community businesses were defaced. Some property damage was also recorded.
The Liverpool Curling Club received the most damage but the siding has since been replaced.
The entire back of the building was covered by child-like drawings and text in mostly red paint.
The overall damages surpassed the $10,000 mark.
