December 9, 2007 to December  15, 2007 continued Barbara Heather Russell, 63 , Windsor, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2007 suddenly at her daughter Susan’s home. Born in Ellershouse, she was a daughter of the late Guy & Norma Hunter. Surviving are her former husband & dear friend, Creighton Hart; daughters, Janice (David) Swindall, Windsor; Susan Hart, Three Mile Plains; grandchildren, Mark Hart, Halifax; Angela Barclay, Grand Prairie; Christian Hart, Three Mile Plains; great-grandaughter, Randi Barclay; Grand Prairie; brothers, Lewis (Anne), Alberta; Darrel, Ontario; Jimmy (Pat) Three Mile Plains; sisters, Rita Lesley, Alberta; Diane (Emmerson) Sanford, Ellershouse; Donna Rose (Danny) Goodwin, Ellershouse. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Ronald, Guy Jr., Wayne & Blaine; sister, Valerie; half brother, Donnie Hunter; half sister, Doris Peach. There was no visitation by request. Funeral service was held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2007 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home 194 King Street, Windsor. Rev. Bill Gibson officiated. Interment was in Ste. Croix Cemetery. December 9, 2007 to December  15, 2007 continued RENNEHAN, William Douglas “Billy” 53, Surf Lodge Nursing Home, Lockeport, formerly of Gunning Cove, passed away in Surf Lodge Nursing Home Wednesday, December 12, 2007. Born in Shelburne, he was a son of Rose and the late Eugene Rennehan. Billy was a loving and devoted son and brother. He enjoyed country music, listening to trains and seagulls as well as his VHF radio. He is survived by his mother, Rose; brother, George (Linda), Gunning Cove; sisters, Sharon Abbott, Bedford; Linda “Muff” (Ervin Banks), Clyde River; Mary (Brian) Nickerson, Edmonton; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by father, Genie Rennehan; grandparents, Douglas and Annie Rennehan and Eldridge “Nick” and Eliza Nickerson. Funeral service was held on Saturday, December 15, 2007 in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel, Shelburne with Pastor Cindy Dunnett and Pastor Deborah Hill officiating. Interment in Carleton Village Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Born in Caribou, Pictou County, she was a daughter of the late John and Gertrude (Rudolph) Turple. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. She enjoyed traveling, playing bingo and a good game of crib. She is survived by five daughters, Gerri Burtin, Bedford; Marilyn (Len) Porter, Waverly; Beverley (the late Don) Butterworth, Halifax; Sylvia Shaw, Dartmouth; Lorna Morine (Darrell), Canning; three sons, Robert (Linda), Prince George, British Columbia; Colin, Toronto; Jason (Debbie), Kinsac, HRM; a sister, Lola (Gerald) Patterson, New Glasgow; a brother Bob (Carrie) Turple, Pleasant Valley, Pictou County; a brother-in-law, George Baird, Caribou; 19 grandchildren, Kim, Wayne, Mardie, Glen, Brian, Leighanne, Gerry Jr., Travis, Pam, Trevor, Steven, Samantha, Cody, Donna, Sean, Joshua, David, Chris, Andrew; 21 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Jason; two sons, Gerald and Tim; three sisters, Eva Mattatall, Alice Baird and Roberta “Bertie” Goodwin. Visitation was held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2007 in St. John’s Anglican Church, Church Street, Port Williams. Interment took place in the church cemetery. December 9, 2007 to December  15, 2007 continued Marilyn Lorna (nee Murphy) DeMone – 64, of 325 Main Street, Kentville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at home. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Salome Jessie (Pearce) Murphy. She enjoyed handiwork, including crocheting and various other crafts, playing bingo, golf, using her computer and attending yard sales. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville – Ladies Auxiliary and was well known throughout the community. She traveled to Florida throughout the winter months for 14 years and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Robert Charles “Bob” DeMone; daughters, Joanne (nee Perrin) Vaillancourt, Ottawa, Ontario; Tanya (nee Perrin) Pollak, Citrus Springs, Florida; Michelle DeMone-Bent, Middleton; Karen (nee DeMone) Khaznaji, Tunisia; sons, Blaine Perrin, Nackawic, New Brunswick; David Perrin, Stayner, Ontario; grandchildren, Amanda, Daniel, Cindy, Jean-Luc, Arianna, Matthew, Joshua, Jessica, Kristofer, Brandon, Brittany, Angela, Shawn, Isaiah, Teresa, Morgan; great grandchild, Cheyenne Grace. She was predeceased by infant twin sons, Denny and David; a daughter, Debbie (nee DeMone) Ross and a grandson, Donnie. There was no visitation or funeral service by request. As per her wishes, she has offered her remains for medical research at the Dalhousie School of Medicine. Interment will take place at a later date in the Garden of Rest Cemetery, the Anglican Parish of St. James’, Kentville. December 9, 2007 to December  15, 2007 continued JORDAN, Florence Anita (Melrose) - 93, of Yarmouth passed away December 13 2007 at the Villa St. Joseph du Lac, Dayton, Yarmouth Co. Born on April 3 1914, in Summerville, Mass. USA, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Florence (Nichols) Melrose. She was a homemaker, and also an antique dealer in the United States and Canada. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Florence is survived by step-son Paul Jordan, California. She was predeceased by her husband Wendell and step-son Barry. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. There will be a memorial service in the Spring of 2008. Donations in memory may be made to the Port Maitland Beaver River Cemetery or a charity of your choice.

December 9, 2007 to December  15, 2007 continued Earle Rupert Lutz - 85, Nicholsville, Kings Co. passed away Friday December 14, 2007, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Lake Paul, Kings Co. he was a son of the late E. Doran and Dora B. (Joudrey) Lutz. Earle worked with his father on the family farm and family saw mill for many years. He had also worked for the Department of Highways. Surviving are brothers, Vincent Lutz, Nicholsville; Reginald (Inez) Lutz, Berwick; sisters, Annie Harding, Factorydale; Beatrice (Henry) Matthews, East Dalhousie; Joyce (Donald Sanford) Gates, Millville; Mona (Reid) Gould, Nicholsville; Cheryl (Orland) Rainforth, Morristown; numerous nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Lutz; sister, Violet Lutz. Visitation for Earle took place 7-9 p.m. Sunday December 16, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home. 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900), from where the funeral service took place 2 p.m. Monday December 17. Pastor Kay Dean D.M. officiated. Burial was in the Morristown Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation, Kentville, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or any charity. Born in River Dennis Station, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late John and Lillian (Stevens) MacLean. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, where she had been active with the Catholic Women’s League. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her children, Lillian (Vincent) Gallant, St. John’s, Newfoundland; Ian, Kentville; Bruce, Moncton and Paul, Kentville; three grandchildren, Brandy, Alisha and Christopher. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael; a sister, Charlotte McLean; two brothers, John Hugh “Buster” and Vern. Visitation was held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2007, with prayers held at 8:00 p.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral mass was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2007 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, Father Craig Christenson officiated. Interment took place in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
