40 years service

Environment and Labour Minister Mark Parent (left) and Kentville Fire Chief Shawn Ripley (right) presented Gerrit Vanamerongen of Centreville with a framed certificate recognizing his 40 years of service to the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department at the department’s Christmas banquet Saturday evening, Dec. 8. Parent announced that the department would be receiving $41,301 in provincial funding from the $5-million announced earlier this year for Nova Scotia fire departments to invest in equipment and capital improvements.
