White Rock news

Hello, everyone. Sorry I missed you last week. With the busy schedule of the season, there wasn’t much to report other than the fact of bad weather. Everyone was engaged with clearing snow.
It has been an adjustment, getting used to the cold weather. The last few years have spoiled us.
There are only six shopping days now until Christmas. It’s so amazing how the time has gone.
I think my shopping is almost done, but I need to go through everything to be sure. There’s a group of people that have been coming to the office for the last few months and they sell different items. It has helped my shopping, that’s for sure.
I’m not a person that enjoys going to the mall on a good day. This time of year, it’s chaos. I just hope everyone focuses on the important part of the season; family and friends.
The card party Dec. 11 had a wonderful 11 tables in attendance. The men’s high went to Frank Spinney and Vi Griffith won the women’s high. Laurie Garby won the low for the evening.
Art Dempsey won the 50/50 and Charles Hope won the traveler. Don Woodworth won the door prize and Vi Griffith won the Christmas Wreath. Remember, the card parties are done for 2007 and will restart Jan. 8, 2008 at the usual time.
Remember to get your tickets for the New Year’s Eve dance while they’re still available. You can purchase them from Sandra Cudmore and you can buy for both the dinner and dance or just one or the other.
Get together with your friends and have a fun evening. Remember to plan for the designated driver to get everyone home safely.
I just found out today there will be a country music concert in Halifax Aug. 30. The artists will be Keith Urban, Charlie Major, Johnny Reid and a few others. Start planning your summer. Tickets go on sale Friday, Dec. 14.
I’m hoping by the time you read this that our family will have had our coasting party. We’re getting the snow and we can’t avoid it, so we should just accept it and make the best of it. Remember to get some healthy activity: go coasting, skating, walking – something that relaxes you and makes you feel better.
Don’t forget that the Greenwich Fire Department is looking for new recruits. If you’re interested, call Randy Schofield at 542-7524.
Happy birthday to Carla Levy, who celebrated Dec. 15, and happy birthday to my niece Christina, who will celebrate on the 20th. Christina is currently living in Amherst.
Happy birthday to Gordie Berry, who is celebrating his birthday right around Christmas. Something tells me it’s on Boxing Day.
Well, I suppose I should go. I need to prepare for my weekend of hockey, housework and baking. Happy holidays. Drive smart and drive safe.
