The court has sentenced a man to a term in a federal penitentiary for his part in the blaze that destroyed the Windsor Curling Club last September.
In Windsor provincial court, Tuesday, Nov. 27, Judge Alan Tufts sentenced Windsor resident William Brian Farrow, 19, to 28 months in a federal institution for recklessly causing damage by fire to the curling club; two years federal for recklessly causing damage by fire to a nearby shed; and to four months for failing to comply with a court undertaking.
As well, Tufts sentenced Farrow to four months in federal custody for assault.
The sentences for causing the fires will be served concurrently with each other, but consecutively with the assault and breach sentences, which will also be consecutive, for a total of 32 months. As well, Farrow had been in remand since Sept. 26.
Farrow committed the assault in Windsor Aug. 3 and the fire-related offenses Sept. 25.
He pleaded guilty to all the charges Oct. 30.
A co-accused adult on the arson charges will return to court Dec. 11 for election and plea. A young person is going though the youth justice system in relation to the fires.
