A man was trapped in his vehicle, Tuesday afternoon on Nov 20, after a two-vehicle collision in Clyde River.
Members of the RCMP and Western Traffic Services as well as the fire department were on the scene and the Dept. of Transportation was called out to assist with traffic control as both lanes on the 103 highway were blocked off for two hours.

A Jeep was stopped northbound on the highway waiting to make a left turn onto the Upper Clyde River Rood when the second vehicle, a Hyundai, traveling in the same direction was unable to stop in time and rear-ended the Jeep.

The driver of the Jeep was uninjured but the driver of the Hyundai was trapped inside because of extensive damage to the vehicle.

The engine caught on fire and a firefighter successfully extinguished the flames.

‘Jaws of Life’ were used to get the driver of the Hyundai out and he was transported to the Yarmouth Regional Hospital where it was determined that his injuries were serious but not life threatening.

A Collision Analyst attended the scene to assist the RCMP’s Western Traffic Services to determine what happened before a decision is made in relation to charges.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.
