November 11, 2007 to November 17, 2007 continued AMIRAULT, William “Bill” Andrew – 99, Beacon Street, Yarmouth, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born October 14, 1908 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Henri and Louise (d’Eon) Amirault. Bill worked with the telegraph office, and he also owned and operated a package delivery service. Bill leaves behind his wonderful caregiver and dear friend, Shirley O’Hearn, as well as nieces, Verna (George) Strathdee, Gloria (Bill) Crocker, Louise Eldridge, all of British Columbia; Velma (Stan) Surette, Pubnico; a nephew, Norman (Mardi) Amirault, Yarmouth. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters Frances and Lucy; brothers, Nelson, James, Eddie and Abel. Visitation took place from 7-9 Friday, with prayers at 8 PM, both in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 11 AM, Saturday, November 16 from Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Albert St., Yarmouth, Father John MacPherson officiated. Interment took place in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. November 11, 2007 to November 17, 2007 continued Margaret Doust – 92, of Kentville, formerly of Thunder Bay, Ontario, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at home. Born in Dewsbury, Yorkshire, England, she was a daughter of the late John and Margaret (Peace) (Knowles) Nicholls. She assembled aircraft with Rosie’s Riveters, Fort William, Ontario and also served with the Canadian Women’s Corps in Alberta as a Nurses Aide. She was later employed with the Board of Grain in Thunder Bay for many years. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Thunder Bay and affiliated with St. Eulalie Rebekah Lodge, Kentville. She was also a member of Bethany Memorial Baptist Church, Aldershot, where she belonged to both the Seniors Ladies Group and the choir. She is survived by sons, Richard (Karen) Cameron, Kentville; Roy (Mabel) Doust, Thunder Bay, Ontario; brother, Ronald, Vulcan, Alberta; sister, Phyllis (Guy) Bujold, Paisley, Ontario; step-daughter, Irma Doust, Alberta; step-son, Ronald Doust, White Rock, British Columbia; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Jack Cameron; her second husband, Alfred Doust and a brother William. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there was no visitation by family request. The funeral service followed by a reception was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Pastor Thelma McLeod officiated. Interment will take place at a later date in Thunder Bay. November 11, 2007 to November 17, 2007 continued Gerald Robert “Bob” Shepherd – 70 of Black Rock, Kings County, passed away peacefully surrounded by love on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at home. Born in Garland, Kings County, he was the youngest son of the late Elsie (Hilling) and William Shepherd. Bob had enjoyed a lifetime of farming and for the past 49 years farmed with his darling wife, Eileen. He was well known throughout the Maritimes for his livestock deals. He loved and will be missed by his small cat, Tiger, whom he considered to be his babysitter, as they spent so much time together over the three years he battled cancer. Bob was a member of the Black Rock Baptist Church. He was loved and will be missed by his wife, the former Eileen Lutz, Black Rock; sons, David (Sherry) Shepherd, Donald (Beth) Shepherd and Darrell (Patti) Shepherd, all of Black Rock; daughters, Brenda (Don) Garber, Grafton and Linda (Derrick) Ettinger, North Kingston. He was a wonderful Grampie to 16 grandchildren, Adelia, D.J., Robert, Don, Jason, Jeremy, Dylan, Jen, Tracey, Joe, Katelyn, Kilby, Matthew, Morgan and Jacob. He is also survived by a brother, Owen (Jean) Shepherd, Aylesford; sisters, Margaret (the late Murray) Leopold, Tillsonburg, Ontario; Ruth (Harold) Shiels, Belleville, Ontario; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Allan, a grandson, Jeff and an infant granddaughter, Kailee. Visitation was held from 3-4:30 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2007 in the Black Rock Baptist Church, Pastor Tim Bigelow officiated. A private family interment took place in the Black Rock Cemetery with a public reception following in the Black Rock Community Hall. Family flowers only by request. November 11, 2007 to November 17, 2007 continued Adella “Della” Rosalie (Cox) Smith – of Billtown, Kings County, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on November 23, 1915, in Avonport, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Ashley and Bessie (Miner) Cox. Della received her education in Avonport and at the Wolfville Academy. She had been employed for many years with H & E Keddy Bros. She was a wonderful and gracious lady who was called “Mom” and “Nan” by many people. She loved to have visitors and enjoyed cooking, her specialty being “homemade bread and rolls” and casseroles. She was a pillar in the community and worked at every function and she would be the first to lend a helping hand. Della will forever be remembered by loved ones as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her quick wit and her great sense of humour will always be treasured by those who knew her. She was a devoted member of the Billtown United Baptist Church where she held many offices, including Sunday School Superintendent, was a long time member of the Jean Rushton Auxiliary and a Dominion Life Member of the Women’s Missionary Society. She is survived by three daughters, Jean (Dan) Fowler, Sundridge, Ontario; Karen (Lowell) Simpson, Halls Harbour and Wanda Smith, Billtown; four sons, Merle (Freda), Billtown; Frank (Bea), Cambridge; Wayne (Lynda), Stoney Creek, Ontario and Orrin (Patti), Berwick; a daughter-in-law, Diane Smith, Aylesford; a sister, Shirley Soucoup, Moncton, New Brunswick; 23 grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, one foster grandchild, 40 great grandchildren, eight step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, in 1978; a son, Carl; a daughter-in-law, Gladys; a brother Russell Cox; four sisters, Mildred Sponagle, Dorothy Fuller, Helen Sponagle and Ruth MacIntosh; a step grandson, Robert Martin. November 11, 2007 to November 17, 2007 continued Jason Lawrence Lake, age 31, of Bramber, Hants County, died suddenly on Monday, November 12, 2007, in Cambridge, Hants County. Jason was born on February 9, 1976, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia. Jason was loved very much and will be forever missed by his children, Kyle and Nerissa Lake; parents, Tim and Shirley (McLellan) Lake, Cambridge; grandfather, Percy (Marg) Lake, Cambridge; grandmother, Lola Dill, Bramber; sister, Jessica "Jess" Lake, Cambridge; sister, Shelley (Todd) Schaefer, Cambridge; brother, Matthew (Tanya) Lake, Cambridge; brother, Josh (Rachael) Lake, Cambridge; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Jason, knew he had a big heart. He was always ready to lend a helping hand when needed, and would do anything for anyone. He deeply loved his children the pride of his life, and especially enjoyed taking them fishing. He also loved his family, the outdoors, and being in the woods. Jason was predeceased by his grandmother, Melba Lake; grandfather, Avard Burgess. There was no visitation by request of the family. November 11, 2007 to November 17, 2007 continued COX, Donald, Baden- 78 Windsor Elms Nursing Home, Windsor, formerly of Bramber, passed away November 13, 2007 in the home. Born April 17, 1929 in Pembroke, Hants Co., he was a son of the late Edgar and Elizbeth “Mae”(Patterson) Cox. Donnie worked for Barite Mine in Walton for many years as well as mines in Tilt Cove, N.L., Elliott Lake, Ont., and Flinn Flon, Man. He was a valued custodian for Dr. Arthur Hines School for 17 years and a caretaker for the Masonic Lodge for five years. He was a member of Shore Masonic Lodge No. 134. He joined the Lodge in 1967 and became Worshipful Master in 1975 and then served the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia as D.D.G.M. for Hants County District in 1984. He was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star of Fairfield Chapter No. 22 of Windsor (Worthy Patron) First in 1977, 1980, 1987 and 1989 and a member of the New Horizons Seniors Group, Bramber. Donnie will forever be remembered for his great sense of humour, big smile and great laugh. Donnie is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Norma (McLellan); daughter, Dawn (Michael) Barkhouse; son-in-law, Garnet Dodge; granchildren Jody (Janice), Cody and Megan; sister, Jean (Dennis) Lake, Minnie (Malcom) Burgess, both of East Walton; Penny (Jolson) Sanford, Windsor; brothers, Bob (Cora), North Noel Road; Randy (Valerie), Dartmouth; Francis(Sandra) Cox, Walton; sisters-in-law, Barb (Allen) Brown, Bramber; Louise Harvey, Haliburton Place, Windsor; brothers-in-law, Bill McLellan, Bramber; Wilson Gould, Walton; Wayne Brown, Ellershouse; many nieces and nephews. November 11, 2007 to November 17, 2007 continued Gerald Edward “Jud” Pineo – 78 of Berwick passed away suddenly at his home Tuesday, November 13th, 2007. Born in Amherst, N.S., he was the son of the late Guy and Mary (O’Mally) Pineo. “Jud” was a lifelong electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a veteran of the Korean war, a member and President of the Kings County Veterans club , past member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kentville, having been involved for some 35 years. He was a former member of the ”Dukes of Kent”, a 3rd Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and a very active member of St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Berwick Gerald will be sadly missed by his wife, Ena; his sons: Bradford (Jodi); Berwick, Mark (Sherry), Berwick; daughters: Gwendolyn (Jim) Murray, Falmouth; Katharine (Larry) Hiltz, Aylesford; 11 grandchildren: Tim Schofield, Anthony Schofield, Matthew (Margie) Hiltz, Amy (Ken) Strong,, Jennifer Hiltz, Mitchell Pineo, Calen Woodworth, Sadie Woodworth, Ashley Pineo, Sarah Pineo, Jillian Pineo; 1 great grandchild, Henry Hiltz; sisters: Kay (Ray) Isnor, Greenwich; Roberta (Christian) Weir, Medford, Mass.
