Nickerson, Grace Lorraine- 80, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away November 11, 2007, at home. Born in Lockeport, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Lawson and Onna (MacIntosh) (Lawson) Nickerson. In her earlier years she worked for Frank Trainor at New System Laundry, Liverpool and the Liverpool Employment Office before raising her family. Some of Grace’s many hobbies included reading, music, stamp collecting and ceramics. She is survived by sons, Stephen (Joyce), of Beach Meadows, Victor, at home. She was predeceased by her stepfather Roswell Nickerson, husband William and brother Alfred. Funeral Service was held Thursday, November 15th, from Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool. Rev. Arthur Nash officiated. Burial was in the Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Liverpool. NICKERSON, Lillian Dorothy - 60, Yarmouth, passed away November 11, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of Kathleen (O'Connell) Reilly of Yarmouth and the late Douglas Reilly. She was a member of St. Ambrose Cathedral, and TOPS. She loved camping (especially spending time with the other campers), and she liked playing cards. Her family and friends meant a lot to her. She was the pillar of her family and always put everyone else first. Lillian had a great sense of humour. She will be missed by her husband of 40 years, Ray; daughters, Nancy Nickerson of Yarmouth; Dawn Nickerson of Barrington Passage; her granddaughter, Sarah Nickerson, Yarmouth; sister, Shirley Reilly of Yarmouth. She was predeceased by sister, Joan Reilly. Visitation was held Thursday, Nov. 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 8 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. Funeral was held Friday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. in St. Ambrose Cathedral, Father John MacPherson officiated. Interment in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Arnold David Adams - 74, North Alton, passed away Sunday morning November 11, 2007 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in New Ross, he was the youngest son of the late Harry and Margaret (Keddy) Adams. Arnold was a finished carpenter who worked at Cornwallis Supplies for 16 years. He also worked for Topline Ventures and A.W. Allen’s. He had a love for wildlife, cattle and gardening. Over the years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and bell collecting. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife; Ethel (Jones) Adams, North Alton; three daughters; Wanda (Greg) Foley, Victoria Beach, Glenda (Brad) Schofield, Black River and Heather (Roy) Harvey, New Minas; 8 grandchildren; Elizabeth, James, Timothy, Travis, David, Sarah, Alison and Amber; 4 great grandchildren; Christopher, Austin, Tyrell and Lyla; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Arnold was predeceased by sisters; Gladys Sweet, Sarah Allen, Ellen Keddy, Hilda Legge and Nora Silver; brothers; Cecil and William. Visitation for Mr. Adams was held from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13 in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home 5 Leverett Ave., Kentville (902-678-2151) from where a funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday November 14 with Rev. Quincy Collins officiated. Constance Joyce (Cleworth) Zinck, age 88 of Windsor Elms, Windsor, formerly of Hantsport passed away peacefully at the Elms on November 11, 2007. She was born on May 29, 1919 at 49 Church Street, Dartmouth and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a daughter of the late Edith (Gamwell) and John Cleworth. As a child she learned to play the violin and played in many churches and social recitals in the Dartmouth area. She always enjoyed the many nights of music held at her parent’s home. Connie played in the Academy Orchestra for many recitals. She graduated in violin from the Maritime Academy of Music and was on their teaching staff. She also played in the CBC orchestra for a number of years. During the war years she was on the staff of the Treasury Department in H.M.C. Dockyard. She married Robert W. Zinck in 1945 and moved to Hantsport in 1948 where he owned and operated the drug store until the early 1970’s. She participated in many organizations and taught violin at Edgehill. Connie also was the director of The Hantsport Ladies Choral Group giving several recitals over the years. Her one passion was listening to classical music and she also enjoyed going to hear many great violin players here and in Toronto. She is survived by her daughter Wendy and son-in-law Bill Braham of Hantsport. She was predeceased by her husband Robert and a son, Richard, in infancy, a sister Mary and a brother John Eldred (Iris) Cleworth. The funeral service was held from St, Andrew’s Anglican Church in Hantsport on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 2 p.m. with a private family burial in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport. Rev. Michael Boyd officiated. Family flowers only. Flynn, Vivian Madeline “Maddy” , age 56, of Clarksville, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007 in the Q.E.II V.G. site. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Arthur & Vivian (Gould) Fenton. She was a painter, avid gardener. Maddy loved her family dearly and a a very strong bond with her children & grandchildren. She was a kind & gentle woman who helped others whenever she could, she was full of love, life and loved by everyone who knew her. John “Stewart” Dolliver – 77, of Kentville formerly of Tremont, Kings County, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 12, 2007 in the Queen Elizabeth Health Sciences Centre – Victoria General Site, Halifax, following a brief but valiant struggle with cancer. Born in Tremont, he was the only child of the late Douglas and Alice (Banks) Dolliver. He spent his working career as the former owner and operator of the Tremont Angus Farm and enjoyed all aspects of farming. He had a passion for aviation and had pursued a hobby as a pilot. He enjoyed traveling, especially by air. Stewart was community minded and volunteered wherever the need. He was active with the Glooscap Curling Club, the Kings Historical Society, the United Church of St. Paul and St. Stephen, Kentville, the Sherbrooke Lake United Church Camp and was a former member and Deacon of the former Tremont Baptist Church. He had been named an Honorary Commissioner of the Kingston District Fire Commission. He was well known and loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, the former Joan (Kelly) (Lang); two sons, Gordon, Tremont and John (Tammy), Stetler, Alberta; three grandchildren, Kenneth, Kathryn and Chase; five step-children, Kathleen (Stephen) Curry, Truro; Douglas (Louise) Lang, Bermuda; Patricia (Steven) Javorek, Kentville; Jennifer (Michael) Miller, Sackville and Peter Lang, Kentville; seven step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Shirley Gordon and a grandson, Charles Dolliver. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Tina Marie Whalen, age 41, passed away suddenly at her home in Toronto. Born in Liverpool, NS, Tina was the beloved daughter of Roy and Gail (White) Whalen and loving sister to brother Darren and sister-in-law Kim (Thorbourne). Tina left home after graduation from L.R.H.S. to attend George Brown College to study fashion design, but her main dream was to work in the music industry. She took courses at Ryerson which eventually helped her to acquire a job in the business side of music which, culminated in being hired by the manager of Big Sugar. Tina not only worked in the office but also toured extensively with the band fulfilling many roles. She also worked for Universal Music Group and worked with a wide range of recording acts in a large corporate setting. From Universal she went back to band management, working for Chris Smith Management dealing with among others; Nelly Furtado, Fefe Dobson and K-OS in a myriad of situations. Staying in the entertainment industry she took a break from music when she worked for an acting agency. Although she enjoyed the change and variety she felt the need to return to her passion for music and most recently worked for Official Community where she quickly became an important part of the organization which specializes in e-businesses for established recording artists. She is survived by her parental grandmother Dorothy Malone (Whalen), Aunts, Dorothy (Wayne), Oxner; Judy (Glenn) Cross; all of Liverpool, Janet Crouse (Bobby Himmelmen) of Bridgewater, and Uncle Lawrence (Brenda) Boutilier, of Mersey Point. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Funeral service was held Friday, November 16th, 2007 from Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool. Rev. MUISE, Remi Thomas “Tommy” – 80, Tusket, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Monday, November 12, 2007 in Yarmouth Regional Hospita. Born May 20, 1927, he was a son of the late Vincent and Elizabeth (Doucet) Muise. He worked at the cotton mill in Yarmouth, and also worked as a laborer. Surviving are his wife Phyllis (Mansfield) Muise, along with their five children, Gary Muise, Raynardton; Donna Murphy, Yarmouth; Diane Muise, Bridgewater; Greg Muise, South Ohio; David Muise, England; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Dexter, Yarmouh; Lilly Melanson, Eel Brook. Besides his parents, Thomas was predeceased by sisters, Irene, Mamie, Addie, Mable and Louis. There waso visitation by request. A memorial service was held at 11 AM, Thursday, November 15 from the New Life Church, 673 Main Street, Yarmouth, Pastor Larry Pennell officiated. Interment took place in Saint Anne’s Parish Cemetery, Ste. Anne-du-Ruisseau. Memorial donations may be made to the Mike Bourque Memorial Fund at the New Life Church. Gordon Russell “Uncle” Fancy – 79, of Auburn, passed away Monday, November 12, 2007 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton following a brief battle with cancer. Born in Ecum Secum, NS, he was a son of the late Roy and Katherine (Feltmate) Fancy. Until 1954 he worked in the fishing and logging industries. He later moved to the valley, where he was employed with Municipal Paving and later worked for Eastern Bakeries until his retirement. After retiring, as a hobby he worked at Brian Pierce’s farm. Gordon was a 28 year member of the Aylesford and District Fire Department and also a member of Ortona Branch #69 Royal Canadian Legion, Berwick. He enjoyed playing darts, cards and listening to Country and Bluegrass music. He is survived by his wife, the former Jean Langille; daughter, Judy (Richard) Heiland, Chezzetcook; sons, Roy, Kentville; Peter, Auburn; stepson, Arnold (Annie), Berwick; sister, Eileen Fleet, Ecum Secum; brothers, Elmer (Helen), Halifax; Joseph, Lower Sackville, NS; grandsons, Bradley and Jeffrey, both of Auburn; Greg, Kingston; Shawn (Sara), North Bay, ON; Stephen (Christine) and Ryan, both of Chezzetcook; granddaughters, Christina, Saint John, NB; Mary Anne (John) and Pamela (Jeff), both of Chezzetcook; great grandsons, Nathaneil; Austin; Alex and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Cecil; sister, Helen; half brother, George; step daughter, Gail Levy and her husband Daniel Levy. Gordon will be sadly missed by his dog “Roscoe” as well as his “buddy” Tristan, Ecum Secum.
