Stetsons and Spurs good way to explore 'policing vocation'

Thinking of policing as a career after finishing school? The Stetsons and Spurs program would be a good start.
The RCMP Stetsons and Spurs Program is offered through local detachments, says RCMP Cst. Andrew Taylor. “You will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities, each one new and challenging. You will also be trained in various subjects that relate to policing, as well as life skills.”
The purpose of the program is to provide the opportunity for youth to experience what Taylor calls “the police vocation" and increase a youth's personal skills in order to become the future leaders in the community.
“The Stetsons and Spurs Program will also promote events where youth can develop their social skills and have fun at the same time,” he said.
The program is open to all youth between the ages of 14 and 18, provided they are in good standing in the community. There’s an annual membership fee of $40 and weekly dues of $2.
