FIELD, Capt. (Ret’d) William Francis “Bill” - 67, of Aylesford, Kings Co. It is with profound sadness, that the family announces the passing of Bill on Friday November 2, 2007, in the Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Middleton, after a short battle with lymphoma. Born in Halifax, he was the son of Marion Field, Musquodobit Harbour and the late William Field Sr. Bill joined the R.C.A.F. in February, 1958. He achieved the rank of warrant officer and in 1981 he was selected to be commissioned from the ranks and then achieved the rank of captain. During his career he was stationed at C.F.B. Trenton, Greenwood, Baden, Germany, Borden, Chatham and Halifax. Bill was dedicated to the military and he and his family enjoyed the military life immensely. He retired in June, 1988. After his retirement, he worked as a quality assurance engineer at Garrett Canada in Rexdale, Ontario as well as I.M.P. Group in Amherst. He again retired in 1998 and moved to the valley to play golf. Bill was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 98, Kingston, and was a member of Markland Lodge # 99, A.F. & A.M., Kingston, where he served as worshipful master under the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia, from December 2004 until March 2006. He was also a member of Mayflower Chapter # 2, Order of the Eastern Star, Kingston and Annaval Chapter # 31, Order of the Eastern Star, Middleton. Bill was an adherent of the Aylesford United Church. Bill’s family always came first but next was his passion for golf. He also enjoyed his time spent playing pool with his friends on Mondays at the Legion. Bill was also a great supporter of the Red Hat Valley Bloomers. He was often referred to as Pierre La Rouge. Bill will always be remembered for his sense of humor which he managed to retain through to the end of his illness. Left to mourn his passing is his loving wife, Lois (Daye) Field of 48 years; his devoted sons, Terry & his wife Donna Field, Belleville, Ont.; David Field and his companion, Hannah of Seoul, South Korea; his much loved grandson, Christopher; granddaughters, Jennifer & Dannielle; his mother, Marion Field, The Birches, Musquodoboit Harbour; sister, Joan Smith & her fiancé, Loyd Murray, New Glasgow. He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers & sisters-in-law, Gerry & Valerie Daye; Paul & Verna Daye; Byron & Vicki Daye; his nieces, nephews & cousins. Last but not least, his best friend & companion, Riley, who kept faithful diligence to his master while he was ill at home. Bill was predeceased by his dad, William Field Sr.; nieces, Diane (Smith) Nickerson; Tina Daye. There was no visitation at the funeral home. Masonic Service & Funeral Service for Bill took place 2 p.m. Monday November 5, in the Aylesford United Church (2414 Hwy # 1), Aylesford. Pastor Kay Dean D.M. officiated. A reception followed in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Kingston Health Auxiliary or to any charity. Kenneth Charles “Ken” Brown – 53, of Woodstock, Ontario passed away Friday, November 2, 2007 in Elkton, Cecil County, Maryland, USA. Born in Windsor, Hants County, he was a son of the late Owen and Gloria (Davis) Brown. He was formerly employed as a diesel mechanic and most recently was a long-haul truck driver. He owned and operated his own truck and was contracted with Clarke Road Transport. He enjoyed motorcycling, boating, golfing, and various building projects. He is survived by his wife, the former Donna Doucet; three daughters, Lisa (Brian) Johnson, Hinten, Alberta; Michelle (Jeremy) Pearson, Paisley, Ontario; Kimberly Brown, Centreville, New Brunswick; a son, Ken Jr. (Charlene), Woodstock, Ontario; eight siblings, Shirley (Graham) Phillips, Halifax; Helen (Cody) Bartlett and Bonnie (Mike) Mullin, both of Mississauga, Ontario; Hughie (Sharon), Barb (Clem) Goodine and Mike (Angie), all of Newport Corner; Bert (Julia), South Rawdon; Crystal (Darrin) Verge, Brooklyn; seven grandchildren, Christopher and Rebecca Johnson, Dion and Jacob LaViolette-Pearson, Samantha, Amanda and Jeremy Brown; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Paul and a brother in infancy. Cremation took place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there was no visitation by family request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2007, in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Marc Potvin officiated. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Family flowers only, by request. BOURQUE, Anthony Paul “Tony” - 65, Sandbeach, Yarmouth Co., passed away November 2, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Yarmouth on June 12, 1942, he was a son of the late Joseph and Florence Bourque. Tony owned and operated his own excavating business for several years. He was a lobster fisherman for several years as well. Tony is survived by daughters, Louise Kolaja, New Jersey; Eileen (Keith) Crossman, Coldbrook; Marie (Bernie) Ward, Edmonton; son, Joe, Dartmouth; stepchildren, Debbie (Robert) Surette, Tusket; Dale (Susan) Roberts, Argyle; brothers, Bill, Sandbeach; Jerry (Nancy), Calgary; sister, Patsy (Fergus) MacDonald, Sandbeach; nine grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, and one step great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife, Esther. Visitation was held Monday, Nov. 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. Funeral services took place Tuesday, November 6, at 2 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in Brooklyn Cemetery, Yarmouth County. Donations in memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society. SMITH, Thomas “A Mabel” Joseph – 57, Meteghan, died Nov. 2, 2007 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Funeral was held in Stella Maris Church, Meteghan. Interment in Sacred Heart cemetery, Saulnierville.

POTTER, Thelma Irene – 90, Clementsvale, Annapolis Co., died Nov. 2, 2007, at home. Funeral was held in Clementsvale Baptist Church. Interment in Clementsvale Baptist Cemetery.

PICTOU, Trevor James - 23, Yarmouth, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2007. He was born on March 3, 1984, in Yarmouth. Trevor was an Acadia First Nation Band member. He resided on the Yarmouth Reserve. He was taking his apprenticeship to be a certified electrician. He loved to travel and work on vehicles. Trevor is survived by his father, Clifford Pictou Jr. "Jimmy" (Donna); mother, Katherine Davis "Kathy"; and brother, Craig Pictou (Vanessa); nephew, Jaylem Jarvis; many uncles, aunts and cousins; grandmothers, Marie Davis and Viola Pictou. He was predeceased by grandfathers, Clifford Pictou Sr. and Cecil Davis; and uncle, Jimmy Davis. Trevor was loved and will be sadly missed by all his family. Visitation was Tuesday, Nov. 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 8 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. Funeral service was held Wednesday, November 7, at 10 a.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Chapel, Rev. Mr. Stephen Bourque officiated. Burial took place in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Gloria M. Illsley – passed away on Friday, November 2, 2007, in her 76th year at Campbellford Memorial Hospital, following a stroke. Beloved wife of Boyd for 53 years. Kind and gentle mother of Gary, Daryl (Christine), Doug (Tracy), and Ken (Judy). Loving grandmother of Connor and Jamie. She is also mourned by sister Patricia Bursey of Ottawa, brothers Reggie Sawler (Roberta) and Lawson Sawler (Pauline) of Nova Scotia, Merle (Mary Lou) of Fredericton, as well as Lloyd (Helene) Illsley of Guelph, Sheldon Illsley of Fredericton, and Caroll Illsley of Middleton, N.S. Gloria will be fondly remembered by many neices and nephews in Ontario and Nova Scotia. Cremation has taken place.

Lillian Elaine McGibbon – at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Orillia, Ont., on Friday, November 2, 2007. Lillian (Rood) McGibbon was born and brought up in Berwick, Nova Scotia, and was the youngest daughter of Judson and Lottie Rood, Berwick. Lillian was a former Queen Annapolisa, representing Berwick. She met her beloved husband, James on that occasion, which was a true romance for 63 years. Dear mother of James Lindsay of Regina, Saskatchewan and predeceased by daughter, Sharon Elaine. Sister of Velma (Don) Hills, St. John, N.B., and predeceased by Margaret (Craig) McConnell, Cecil (Marion) Rood and James Lindsay (Todd) Rood. The family recieved friends at the Mangan Funeral Home, Beaverton, Ont. on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services was held in the chapel on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. Interment Stone Church Cemetery, Beaverton.
