October 14, 2007 to October 20, 2007 continued Gerald Frederick Pynch - 72, of Waterville passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2007 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Waterville, Kings Co., he was the son of Dorothy (Vidito) Pynch and the late Frederick Owen Pynch . Gerald worked as a butcher for Clayton Hale for 20 years and then for 21 years with Larsen Packers. He was an associate member for many years with Ortona Branch #69, Royal Canadian Legion, Berwick. Gerald loved to hunt & fish and enjoyed playing darts and cards. He was a kind & loving family man and enjoyed working around his home. Besides his mother, Dorothy Pynch, he is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons: Larry and Ronald (Lillie) both of Waterville; daughter, Geraldine (Tim) Sanford, Kentville; 6 grandchildren: Steven, Jody, Amanda, Adrienne, Andrew and Kara; 5 great grandchildren; sisters; Vera and Carol Scotney, Weston; Marilyn Young, Aylesford; brother, Terrance, Weston. Visitation was 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. Coldbrook (Exit 14). Joint Royal Canadian Legion & funeral service was held 2:00 p.m. Friday in Cambridge United Baptist Church, Cambridge. Rev. Garnet Parker officiated. Interment in the Cambridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Ortona Branch # 69, Royal Canadian Legion, Berwick. October 14, 2007 to October 20, 2007 continued Ernest William Hickey – 76 passed away peacefully at home in Glenmont surrounded by his family, Tuesday, October 16, 2007. Born in Halifax , he was the son of the late James Patrick and Gladys Irene (McGrath) Hickey. He lived most of his life in Spryfield, having worked for 28 years for the Halifax School Board at the B.C. Silver & Pinegrove schools. Ernest was a true family man & enjoyed his family. He loved being outdoors, driving his tractor & working his land. He’ll be sadly missed by his wife, Geraldine; his daughter, Darlene (Paul); sons: Ernie Jr.(Betty), Wayne (Marion), Edward (Gwen) and David. Ernest was also blessed with a blended family which includes, sons: Levi (Betty), Mark and Russell (Barb) Jess; daughters: Cindy (Gary) Parrish, Tanya Levy, Wendy Jess and Scarlet Law; 22 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; many nieces & nephews. Surviving also are brothers: Victor (Margaret) Hickey, Doug (Dianne) Rutt, ; sisters: Anna Graves and Rose (Reginald) Harnish. He was predeceased by brothers: James & George and first wife, Anita Marie. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr, Coldbrook (Exit 14). A memorial service was held 2:00 p.m. Thursday from his home on 98 Charles Rand Rd. Glenmont. Pastor Wayne Nicholson officiating. Burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the IWK hospital. Planting of a tree in Ernest’s memory will take place following the service.
