Renna Armenia Keating – 82, of New Minas, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 4, 2007 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Black River, she was a daughter of the late Emery and Bessie (Schofield) Spinney. Throughout her life she held various employment positions. In her early years she worked at the Paramount Hotel and Blomidon Inn, Wolfville. She and her late husband Andy owned and operated R&A Cleaners, Wolfville. She was a sales representative for Avon and later employed with Zellers, New Minas, from where she retired. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, baking, walking, dancing, card games and visiting with her neighbors. She is survived by five children, Shirley Butler, North Alton; Faye (Murray) Ward, Coldbrook; Garth (Betty) Spencer, New Minas; David (Terri) Keating, Canaan; Nancy (Michael) Ward, New Minas; her longtime companion, James Feener, New Minas; sister, Sandra (Bernard) Forsythe, Wolfville; six brothers, Franzell (Mary), New Minas; Harland (Maxine) and Frank (Jean), both of White Rock; Leo (Cookie), Black River; Blake (Clara), Sunken Lake; Eldon (Shirley), Dundas, Ontario; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Andy Keating; three sisters, Velda Morrisey, Florence Benjamin and Anne Woodworth; a brother, Gerald; a son-in-law, Richard Butler. There will be no visitation by family request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Doctor Robert Knowles officiated. A private family burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only, by request. Darlene Marie Lyons – 46, of Kingsport, Kings County, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2007 at home. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of James and Marion (Wallace) Pineo, Canning. She had been employed as a grower with Blomidon Nurseries for many years. She was an avid gardener and had a love for flowers. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, beloved daughter and sister. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, James Lyons; three sons, Shawn, Halifax; Chad and Jeremy, at home; four sisters, Jeannie (Rick) Barton, Parkdale, Lunenburg County; Lorenda (Donald) Veinot, Kentville; Mary Pineo, Athabasca, Alberta; Michelle (Graham) Stark, Bristol, New Brunswick; several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there was no visitation by family request. Shirley Genevieve Clem - Viewmount, Kings Co. passed away peacefully with her family, on Sunday November 4, 2007. Born in Viewmount, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Genevieve (Howell) Sweeney. Mrs. Clem was a member of the Burlington & District Women’s Institute since May 1988. She will be sadly missed by many family & friends. Surviving are her husband, Lorimer; daughters, Ruth (Douglas, deceased) Meier; Joan (Brendan) Gibney; Carrol (Peter) Stewart; sons, Eric (Noreen); Neil (Wendy); Darrel (Joanne Comeau); grandchildren, Natalie, Ben, Brett; Heather, Caitlin, Austin; Ian, Briana; Chesley, Bradley; siblings, Marion (Myles) Balsor; Ronald (Gloria) Sweeney; Hilda (Morris, deceased) Ruggles; Helen (Fred, deceased) Wagstaff; Beatrice (Alan, deceased) Whittier; Kenneth (Linda) Sweeney; sister-in-law, Phyllis Sweeney; brother-in-law, Colin MacDonald; and a large extended family. JARVIS, Lester Ernest – 72, Weymouth, died Nov. 4, 2007 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Funeral was held in St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Weymouth Falls. Interment in the parish cemetery.

JOHNSON, Barbara Emma – It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Emma Johnson announce her death on Monday, November 5, 2007, at home. Born July 22, 1945 in Yarmouth, she was a daughter to Avis Leota Robichaud. Barbara worked at Dominion Textiles in Yarmouth for many years, and then worked at Zellers in Yarmouth until her illness. She was a great fan of both bingo and Elvis. Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, nana, daughter and sister. Surviving are her mother, Avis Robichaud, Yarmouth; her husband of 26 years, Malcolm J. Johnson; her children: daughter, Tina (Ensley) Bishop, along with their daughter, Gelisa Fraser-Bishop, all of Halifax; son, Gilbert Parker, Halifax; daughter, Samantha Johnson (Paul Newell Jr.), and their son, Drake Newell-Johnson, all of Yarmouth; brothers and sisters, Harry (Terry) Lambert, Halifax; Judith Ogden, Virginia Johnson, Larie (Emily) Lusk, Donald (Laura) Lusk, Audrey Sears, Carol (Gordon) Ogden, Brian (Melody) Cromwell, Darby (Sonny) Robichaud, Gordon Cromwell, all of Yarmouth; Sheila (Stephen) Dunphrey, Digby. HAYNES, Marilyn Ruth, – 66, Digby, died Nov. 5, 2007, in Digby General Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Boyd and Alice Haynes. Marilyn worked for Maritime Tel & Tel in Digby and in Kentville for a total of 33 years, of which she had more than 30 years perfect attendance. Marilyn was an active member of Digby Baptist Church where she kept nursery school for several years and enjoyed singing in the choir. She also provided rides to and from church for many others. Marilyn volunteered many hours at the Digby Food Bank. Surviving are sisters, Judy McKnight, Baxter’s Harbour; Susan Dugas (Arnold), Yarmouth; Edna McLeod (David), Tantallon; Alice Mary Dugas (Paul), Digby; brothers, George (Diane), Fred (Sandra), Digby; Roberts (Shiela), Middleton; and Richard (Mabel), Greenwood; several nieces and nephews. Marilyn was predeceased by her sister, Betty McRae and her brother-in-law Sam McKnight. Funeral was held Thursday, Nov. 8, in United Baptist Church, Digby, Rev. Donald Robertson officiating. STEVENSON, Enid Delight - 91, of Brickton, NS, passed away peacefully Monday, November 5, 2007 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton, with her family at her bedside. Born on Gates Mountain, Middleton, she was the daughter of the late Perley and Harriett (Redden) Kenney. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and her family was her life. Enid enjoyed using her hands making crafts and sewing was one of her greatest pleasures. She was a member of the Middleton United Baptist Church. She is survived by sons, Ronald (Marilyn), Brooklyn; Gary, Brickton; daughters, Nancy Hutson (Bob), Bridgetown; Barbara (Randy) Keddy, Bridgewater; grandchildren, Brent, Shannon, Tina, Troy, Derren, Stephanie, Kirk, Tim; ten great grandchildren and wonderful son-in-law, Gerald Chase. She was predeceased by her husband, Elvin; daughter, Maxine Chase; brother, Vernon Kenney and infant sister, Ruth. She will be sadly missed by friends and family. CLARK, Elbert Oscar - 88, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at the Annapolis Community Health Centre, Annapolis Royal. Born in Port Royal, he was a son of the late James and Sarah (Mills) Clark. Elbert is survived by his sister, Mildred Stewart (Donald) of Dartmouth; and brother Gordon of Port Royal; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Ellen McNeil, Atlanta Clark, Doris Greenwood and Olive Clark; brothers Cecil and Calvin. He will be sadly missed by many friends and relatives. A memorial service was held Saturday, November 10 in St. Luke's Anglican Church, Annapolis Royal, Rev. Canon Ken Vaughan officiated. Interment in Christ Church Cemetery. BLINN, Pauline Marie – 69, Tidal View Manor, Yarmouth, and formerly of Saint Bernard, Digby Co., passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2007 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born June 16, 1938 in Corberrie, Digby Co., she was a daughter of the late Edouard and Marie Adele (Comeau) Blinn. She was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Joseph Mande Blinn; a son, Michael Blinn, St. Bernard; two granddaughters, Tina and Megan Blinn; brothers and sisters, Louis Blinn, Boston; Marie Roberts, Bedford; Marguerite Comeau, New Glasgow; Rita Deveau, Dartmouth; Emile Blinn, Digby; Joseph Blinn, Albert Blinn, both of Montreal; Charles Blinn, Lower Sackville; Ruby Comeau, Ontario. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Nelson Blinn and a sister, Annette Blinn. There will be no visitation by request. The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 17, from Saint Bernard’s Catholic Church, St. Bernard, Father Paul Belliveau officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
