Wolfville firefighters responded to a motor vehicle collision on Main Street Oct. 26 at 4:10 p.m.
Wolfville responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 1 in Hortonville Oct. 28. Firefighters assisted paramedics in preparing one individual with undetermined injuries to be transported to hospital and with traffic control.
Wolfville responded to a pile of debris on fire on the side of the road in Melanson Oct. 31 at 7:38 p.m.
Canning firefighters responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 221 in Canning Oct. 27. Two people were transported to hospital with undetermined injuries. Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to remove one person from the vehicle.
Canning responded to a call for medical assistance on Weaver Road in Pereau Oct. 29.
Canning firefighters responded to a possible structure fire on Bains Road in Canning Oct. 29. It turned out to be a chimney fire.
Canning responded to a call for medical assistance on Highway 221 in Habitant Oct. 30 and to a call for medical assistance on Longspell Road in Kingsport that evening.
New Minas firefighters responded to an illegal burn on Jones Road last week and to a smoke condition at the Big Stop Oct. 31.
New Minas responded to a two-vehicle collision on Commercial Street Nov. 1. Two people were transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.
Kentville firefighters responded to a chimney fire in Steam Mill Oct. 27.
Kentville responded to a false fire alarm sounding at Camp Aldershot Oct. 30.
Kentville responded to a gasoline and paper fire on Prospect Street Oct. 31.
October 31 at 8:38 p.m., the Berwick and District Fire Department responded to a dumpster fire at the Berwick school. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and returned to the station. At 8:56 p.m., they were called to Highway 1 in Berwick West to a single vehicle accident. The car left the road and hit a small tree. There were only minor injuries and fire crews were at the scene until 9:20 p.m. They were called out again at 12:21 a.m. for tires and wooden pallets on fire in the road near 4190 Highway 1 in Berwick West. The fire was extinguished and the mess cleared. Fire unite were back at the station at 1:03 a.m.
November 2 at 3:25 p.m., Berwick provided a tanker to a brush fire on South Bishop Rd. in Coldbrook. Berwick remained at the scene until 4:47 p.m.
November 3 at 9:46 a.m., Berwick responded to a alarm sounding on Union St. in Berwick. Fire units were cancelled before they made it to the address, as it was a false alarm.
November 4 at 7:05 a.m., Berwick responded to Prospect Rd. for a tree on power lines. When firefighters arrived, they found a very large tree across the road. Phone and cable lines were down but no power lines were involved. The Department of Transportation arrived shortly after and began clean up. Fire units returned to the station at 7:33 a.m.
At 8:46 a.m., they were called to Taylor Rd. for power lines against the trees, causing fire. Nova Scotia Power was notified and fire units returned to the station.
Later, at 8:35 p.m., Berwick responded to Lawrence Rd. in South Berwick for a smoke condition. When firefighters arrived, they found a house full of smoke. The house was ventilated; the cause was the woodstove. Once the house was cleared of smoke and the home determined safe, firefighters returned to the station.
Berwick firefighters, along with RCMP, EHS and Price Chopper staff; would like to thank all who attended the pancake breakfast Nov 3 at the fire hall: $1,387 was raised at the event and will be presented to the local Mommies and Daddies Christmas telethon.
It has been a busy couple of weeks for Waterville and District firefighters. October 18 at 20:47, crews answered a mutual aid call to Greenwich for the fire at Stage 2. At 4:57 the following morning, crews received a call for relief firefighters. The incident was over at 9:11, with crews and equipment returning to Waterville.
October 22 at 5:47, Waterville received a call for a medical emergency on Highway 1 in Waterville. Firefighters assisted paramedics. Crews were returned at 6:34.
October 24 at 21:14, firefighters assisted paramedicsat a medical emergency on Randolph Road. Crews were back at 22:20.
November 1 at 7:37, there was a report of a single vehicle collision on Prospect Road in South Waterville. Firefighters provided traffic control until the vehicle was removed from the area at 8:41. No one was injured.
November 2 at 14:56, crews answered a mutual aid call to Kentville for a woods fire on South Bishop Road. Crews returned at 16:54.
November 3 at 18:22, firefighters received a report of a single vehicle roll-over on Prospect Road. Crews returned at 19:07.
There were four weekend storm-related calls, all dealing with trees and power lines. The first November 4 at 00:44 came from Randolph Road. Crews remained until 1:33. November 5, crews were out from 8:40 to 9:57 on Highway 1 in Cambridge. From 9:19 to 9:57, they answered a call on Russia Road in Black Rock and, from 20:19 to 20:42 and 20:21 to 20:42, there was a call on Brooklyn Street in Grafton.
