RCMP investigate fatal highway crash in Kingston
RCMP Valley Traffic Services is investigating a single vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a young man last Wednesday.

The crash occurred on Highway 1 near Kingston.

Daniel Gallant, 22, of Kingston, who was the driver of the car, died in the collision.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., a westbound vehicle left the road crashing into a wooded area. Police said the 22-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two adult teenage passengers received undetermined, but non-life threatening injuries and were transported to the Valley Regional Hospital. All three are from the Kingston area.

A traffic services collision analyst looking at preliminary information in the investigation suggests that speed as a contributing factor for the crash, said Sgt. Rich Walkinshaw.

Highway 1 was closed for four hours for the investigation. RCMP Kingston detachment and the Kingston Volunteer Fire Department also provided assistance.
