More senseless vandalism in Three Mile Plains

A used car lot in Three Mile Plains was the target of vandals in the wee hours of Oct 28, when six vehicles belonging to Windsor Motors had their windshields smashed. The incident is being investigated by Windsor Rural RCMP. Cst. June Boutilier reported that no heavy objects were found on the scene, and police believe the perpetrators used their own feet to inflict the damage.

Boutilier reported there were traces of mud on the hoods of the vehicles, but rain had washed away any distinctive shoe prints. RCMP conducted neighborhood inquiries over the weekend, however no further information was forthcoming.

The car lot owner Donald Shortt, was clearly disappointed when he faced the damage that morning. “This is going to cause real hardship for me,” he said. The damaged vehicles are owned by his business and unfortunately were not insured. “This is going to come out of my pocket,” he said. Vandalism has been an ongoing concern for residents and businesses in the Three Mile Plains area for some time.

“It makes it bad for anyone who wants to move to the area and for any businesses coming here,” he said. “It just gives Windsor a bad reputation.”

Shortt said he can make a good guess as to who the vandals are but according to RCMP there are no suspects at this time. The RCMP continues to investigate the incident and, meanwhile, Windsor Motors will remain open for business.
