SMITH - John Robert “Johnnie”, age 77, of Lower Vaughan’s, Hants County, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 15, 2007, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on June 26, 1930, in Lower Vaughan’s, he was the youngest son of the late Frederick and Frances (Redden) Smith. At the young age of thirteen, he began working with his father and brothers in the family forestry business. He was a member of the West Hants Ground Search and Rescue Unit, and was a supporter of the Southwest Hants Fire Society. Johnnie was a life member, Elder and Clerk of Session of the Vaughan’s United Church. He loved music, enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. For many years he played in the “Good Time Band”, also sharing his musical talents with his church, community and friends. He had produced several cassettes and CD’s of his country and gospel music. Johnnie is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, the former Lois Marguerite Redden, whom he met while haying on the dykes near the Redden Farm in Martock; sisters, Emma (late Carl) Patterson and Jean (late Joe) Walker, both of Martock; sister-in-law, Doris Smith, Musquodoboit; special niece, Cheryl and great-niece, Cari; also numerous other nieces and nephews. Beside his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Maynard; Russell and his wife, Annie; sister, Alma Sanford and her husband, Lloyd. Visitation was 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, October 18, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2007, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Craig Faulkner officiated. Interment at the Lower Vaughan’s United Church Cemetery, Lower Vaughan’s, followed by a reception in the Vaughan’s United Church Hall. Family flowers only. Lilly Grace Lawrence - Ashley Fairn, daughter of Sheila (Steve) Wheeler of Stellarton and Michael (Belle) Fairn of Middleton, and Derek Lawrence, son of Wayne and Anne Lawrence of Churchville, are very sad to announce the stillbirth of their daughter Lilly Grace Lawrence in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, on October 14, 2007. Lilly is also survived by her great-grandparents Howard and Eileen Clark of Wilmot, George (Lynda) Fairn of Nictaux, Ned Wheeler of Halifax, Barry and Sharon Lawrence of Westville, and Les and Agnes Campbell of Stellarton; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her great-grandparents Jean Fairn, Gerry Wheeler, and Fraser (Gucca) Campbell. Her arrival was eagerly anticipated and she will be sadly missed. “We will always love you, baby girl”. A family graveside committal service was held in the Auburn Cemetery in Westville on Saturday, October 20, Rev. Leo Fletcher officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of the H.W. Livingstone, Muriel M. – passed away peacefully on October 17, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Muriel was the daughter of the late Andrew and Loretta (Gagon) Prisque of Liverpool NS. She is survived by two sons, Fraser (Ashley) of Quispamsis and Byron (Kathy) of Rothesay; stepdaughter Leigh Morgan of Toronto; sister Lewella McIntyre of Saint John; granddaughter Riley and several nieces and nephews. Besides her mother and father, Muriel was predeceased by her husband Bishop and sister Lucille Burgess of Port Mouton, NS. Muriel Livingstone was an ardent follower of Tai Chi at the Taoist Tai Chi Society of Canada, she actively participated in a local art club, and she also was intimately involved in the Saint John Clean Air Coalition. Muriel was a past member of the Silver Falls United Church and was a participant in the Silver Falls United Church choir. KILLAM, Vera Audrey – 90, of Wilmot passed away Friday, October 19, 2007 in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Kingston, NS she was a daughter of the late Frank and Oressa (Weir) Tupper. Vera served with Canadian Women’s Army Corps as a telegrapher during the Second World War. She was an avid reader and loved doing puzzle books. She is survived by her daughters, April (Peter) Cahill, Kentville, Evelyn (Henry) Pedersen, Winnipeg, MB, Anne (Wilfred “Junior”) Thibeault, Middleton; sister, Marguerite Drew, Middleton; brother, Earle (Joan) Tupper, Terrace, British Columbia; grandchildren, Jacqueline (Doug) MacInnis, Groves Point, CB, Robin Parker, Kentville, Diana Pedersen, Winnipeg, MB, Julie Pedersen, Otterville, Ontario, Christopher Oliver, Michael Thibeault, and Brenda-Lee (Ian) Brown, all of Middleton and 5 great grandchildren. Sherman enjoyed listening to country music and was a very kind and caring person who was always concerned about his family, friends and community. CAREY, Frederick Vernon "Ted" - 69 passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct.14, 2007 at his home on Lincoln Avenue, Kingston, after a courageous battle with cancer. Formerly of Scott’s Bay, Ted was the son of Leora (Dykens) Carey and the late Delbert Carey. Ted was a friend to all who knew him, kindhearted and always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially by the folks at Lincoln Court. Surviving besides his mother, Leora of Wolfville is his loving wife of 48 years, Lillian (Banks) Carey and twin sons: Don (Lisa), Wilmot and Ron (Stacey), Greenwood; brothers: William "Bill" (Carolyn), Sommerset; Donald (Barb), New Minas; sisters: Vinetta (Bob) Hines, Canning; Sharon (Graham), Bridgetown; Beatrice, Wolfville; Judy, Windsor; Debbie (Earl Blenus), Coldbrook; grandchildren: Marshall, Christopher, Ronald, Bianca, Brandon, Kaylee, Jane and Isaac; many nieces & nephews.
